bryancd - 2009-08-09 1:00 PM Not only is there not nearly enough room on the ground for something as large as a bucket, unless you are going to take up space from the people on either side, but when you sit your lazy a@# down, where are you sitting? In the flippin' middle of the aisle down which other athletes are trying to navigate to get to their spot! And really, this is like the 10th thread on this topic in the past 6 months...If anyone has any questions about this, please use the search function.

I love bossy people...Seriously, if you are tired of the topic, why read a new thread on it?? Wouldn't you just skip it?

I used a bucket in one race.  The goal of the race was to Open Water swim race experience and fun.  My spot was at the end of the rack, next to the fence.  I used the bucket to haul my stuff in with and then sit down on when I put on my socks & shoes on.

Did it take more time?  Yes.  Was I worried about it?  No.

Mike, I would be all over that like white on rice!!! LOL!!!!! I have run by my rack more than once, nobody's perfect. I actually used to stick a small little sign in the ground by my rack. It was the symbol from the Jedi Academy video games, I'm a bit of a sci-fi dork.

I actually have a homing beacon on my bike that sends out signal pulses that my watch picks up.  If I'm heading in the wrong direction, I will receive an electrical shock on my wrist.

It has been my experience that the bigger races have slots assigned by race number and, as long as you don't forget your race number, you can find you slot pretty quickly.  In smaller races where it's 'first come, first served' I usually will take a less desirable spot.  Anyway, usually by the time I'm out of the water, half the bikes are already gone.

It just seems that as of late, T spots are getting uber small. And yet some folks take up WAY too much room with a oad of crap they really don't need. The whole bucket thing only makes that worse rather than better. You really don't need that much in Transition. Honestly. Your bike helmet and sunglasses can rest on your bars, you shoe's can be clipped in or on the towel. Your running shoe's, race belt, and hat can be in a little pile. You DO NOT NEED a tub to wash your feet. Riding in dirty feet doesn't feel like anything. Trust me, most of you are taking WAY too much stuff into Transition.
