vrljc - 2008-09-04 1:24 PM can someone explain how you can qualify for boston? this is something that I want to do one day.

you need to run a marathon in a given time based on your age: http://www.bostonmarathon.org/BostonMarathon/Qualifying.asp

My hubby will be running in Boston - I'll be the jockstrapper probably toting around two kids and cheering loudly (while they complain and beg to go back to the hotel pool...). This will be his fifth time and he's hoping for under 3 hours.

vball03umd - 2008-09-04 1:21 PM Hopefully I'll be able to register someday! I'll just keep on running...

Dude, you're super-fast already, and if I recall, you've only been running for a couple of years, yes? I bet you could get there Me on the other hand...not so much I do wish I still lived there though, cuz watching it is lots of fun.

I wish I could, this is a big goal of mine but I'm not going to come even remotely close in NY this fall. I'm just not fast enough.

With my first IM next year, I'm making '10 my BQ goal year. But I'm jockstrapping for the first time in April and really looking forward to it!

I want to do this some year..I'll never qualify...I'm not fast and sure I can improve but not enough. But living in Boston area lots of ways to get in the back door. I may pursue one of those doors some year..

Maybe if we don't go away for Spring break we can come cheer you guys on!

I had no idea your husband was such a stud!  We are staying at the Eliot Hotel this year which is close to the action.  Where are you staying?  maybe we can hook up at some point.

Don't be so quick to count yourelf out. A friend mine qualified after running 25 marathons and years of frustration.

Endurance Sports are an exercise in delayed gratification and I would bet that the moment he made the turn onto Boylston Street and saw the finish line was one of the sweetest for him.

I qualified at this years Boston Marathon but you all are going to have fun without me! I got my sub 3 at Boston and it will be some time before I tackle that suffer fest again! It is an awesome race, all you first timers are in for an incredible experience!

From the recent news, it looks like Lance will be sitting this one out in 2009 as well
