I registered yesterday...Sprint 25 - 29

Heat is at 12:50, I think. I'll be there, drowning.

Don't look for help from me, I'm not to good in the water!
By the way, what are you a deputy of?

I'd like to watch, but I've got another race that day.

Mike, is the snow gone?

There's still snow on my lawn.

It's off the roads, for now, though.

I hit the trainer this morning...that's harder than I thought it would be, for some reason. That 20km ride may end up being longer than I thought...hah.

Haz, Deputy was an inside joke nickname from a trip I took to Europe, our tour guide was from Kingston and the Canadians on the tour sometimes jokingly called him the PM and he started referring to me as the Deputy PM because I often knew answers to some of the things that he didn't. It just stuck.

It's not my normal online nick, but that one was already taken, so this is my backup.

For the record, and I am officially going on said record as saying this, I've decided that I love the snow.

Cypress was f-wording AWESOME today. The snow was so rad. We got up there at about 2:00 and there was still TONS of pretty fresh powder. For me, as a relatively beginning snowboarder, this was so rad.

I love the snow!

Here's something that ended up in my inbox:

Day 2 - Vancouver Blizzard 2006 - Revenge of the Commuters

Chilled Vancouver commuters faced their second day of winter hell today, as an additional ΒΌ centimetre of the peculiar white stuff fell, bringing the lower mainland to its knees and causing millions of dollars worth of damage to the marijuana crops. Scientists suspect that the substance is some form of frozen water particles and experts from Saskatchewan are being flown in. With temperatures dipping to the almost but not quite near zero mark, Vancouverites were warned to double insulate their lattes before venturing out.

Vancouver police recommended that people stay inside except for emergencies, such as running out of espresso or biscotti to see them through Vancouver's most terrible storm to date. The local Canadian Tire reported that they had completely sold out of fur-lined sandals.

Drivers were cautioned to put their convertible tops up, and several have been shocked to learn that their SUV's actually have four wheel drive, although most have no idea how to use it.

Weary commuters faced soggy sushi, and the threat of frozen breast implants. Although Dr. John Blatherwick, of the Coastal Health Authority reassured everyone that most breast implants were perfectly safe to 25 below, down-filled bras are flying off the shelves at Mountain Equipment Co-op.

"The government has to do something," snarled an angry Trevor Warburton. "I didn't pay $540,000 for my one bedroom condo so I could sit around and be treated like someone from Toronto."

Thx for the laugh!

Been lurking for a while now, and thought now's a good as time as any to say hi. So, Hi everyone.

I live in Vancouver and work in burnaby. I have a great boss that lets me swim/strength train on company time. I've just finished off week one of the 20 week Beginner to Olympic, and I can't agree more about this damn weather - it sucks!

Welcome Sam! Pretty nice boss for that, too bad mine is so hard on me! (I'm my own boss!) What Olympic you have planned?

I would like to try the Vancouver Tri in Sept. The officer manager and I (he runs half marathons, but can't swim) will probably try "My First" in August .

I'm a tub right now at 5'9 - 240lbs and 22% BF. I can bench press a small car, but I've always dreamed being an "Ironman". About two months ago I watched a race on OLN and thought, it was time to get it together and get off my arse. So, I've been swimming since then, and have dusted off the mountain bike and bought some slicks for it. (I'm going to buy a road bike in about two months) And tomorrow I'll be rolling, I mean jogging around Central Park..

One day at a time!!

You have your own biz? Mind if I ask what it is?

hey, don't get me wrong - I'm a pretty avid snowboarder myself and I too love the snow...in the MOUNTAINS. It can stay up there.

I agree with that. I wish it was nice enough down here to hit the links!

Anyhow, I'm off to play some badminton! At least I can do that indoors.
