Working for about three hours then celebrating at the Gaelic League in Detroit. That Savannah party is outstanding - had a blast about 6 years ago. Y'all need to remember - The Great Day only comes once per year, there are many opportunities to race. I'll be enjoying the weekend especially because the tri's don't start in Michigan til late May.

I am a Savannah (transplant) girl and we take the beer seriously this weekend.  Believe it or not, Savannah has the third largest St. Patty's day party in the freakin' county.  It is so serious here that all of the kids are out of school that day and the banks (downtown) are closed.  Really.  And we have no open container law, so I have already seen throngs of people touring the city with big ole' beers in their hands.




Seriously, St. Paddy's Day in Savannah is the best. I attended every year when I lived there, and returned in 2003. So much fun!

GatorJamie -. WTF is this - my spouse is Boston Irish Catholic, yet she forbids me from making corned beef & cabbage.

St Pat's falls on a Friday during Lent this year. 

But, if she says that every year, then, maybe you need cooking lessons.

It's my birthday but I will be lame, dinner with family, maybe a movie and pick up my new car.

I too have experienced ST Patricks day in Savanna. I was stationed at Fort Stewart and a bunch of us went there one year. Probably the most memorable B Day I have had. Partied all night, Passed out in some girls lap and got imy head bashed in with a tire iron.

I will be going to see a comedy revue at a theatre. It's hosted by the engineer's at u of toronto, so it has to be crazy and hilarious.

I'll tip one and toast to the most colorful of the contributors to my ancestry.  I'm too much of a melting pot at this point to claim true Irish heritage.

I'll also be reciting one of my favorite Irish prayers, something about holding onto a blade of grass and not falling off the face of the earth.

Last Saturday in Chicago was the big parade and celebration and it just seemed wrong to be so far before the actual day.

Any of you true Irish lads have any colorful toasts for us Yanks to throw around so we sound like we know what we're talking about? 

 



"Go n'eiri on bothair leat" - translates as "the road rises to you", means good luck to you in your travels. Apt considering how many miles we run & cycle each week

Irish Soda Bread for Breakfast...Boston Spring Flower show (wearing green of course) with lunch & a beer involved...corned beef & cabbage simmering at home...pick up my son at the airport eat isaid dinner when we get home whilst listening to irish tunes....more beer involved....howl at the full moon & run shirtless at midnight ...come home & have frosty mug..

hmmm....howling at the moon, runnng shirtless, bubble bath and baileys..sounds like someone  is going to have more fun than everyone else!!!

 

methinks attending the local firefighters MDA gig at Liam McGuires Pub will be the evenings fun.
