Subject: RE: Good (paperback) book recommendations?A good one for raising the ourdoorsy rabble, is The Monkeywrench Gang by Edward Abbey. It's been several years since I read it, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. It may be a bit heavy (poundage-wise ) for backpacking though.

Another one I enjoyed reading recently was Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Friend (or something like that ). It was pretty amusing.

Then if you haven't read it, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a classic, and one of the few books I've read that makes me laugh out loud nearly every page. That's a pretty light and small book if you're concerned about weight and size for the backpacking trip. |
