Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I've had convo's similar to JC's and I'm sure my sweetie often feels like the 'wife' of a triathlete. Often waking up to an empty bed while I'm out exercising. Always looking in to the T-area where only athletes are allowed. Etc. Poor guy. At least his GF hasn't put on 5 pounds a year for the 5 years we've been together. |

Oh and I checked your training plan on the fridge and noticed your racing in two weeks, you going to need to carbo load that 2nd Thursday?" Of course, we have no kids yet, and I hear that makes a difference |

(suckah....join our inescapable club...mwahaahaaa). Really...seriously, your carbs just change from pasta fresca to pop tart crusts, pizza crusts and the ends of fish sticks. The rest works itself out. |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hello all, You can see from my number of posts I don't say much on here, but I'll take any chance I can to brag on my wife... I tell her last month (we're in the military, currently stationed apart) that I've started training for triathlons and she says, "I wondered what was taking you so long...you can already run and bike". She was doing triathlons when we started dating, and would like to start racing again. I just need to get my @ss in shape before she gets here (to Germany) since she can swim laps around me (besides, she says she'll leave me if I get fat...ha!) A wife that wondered WHY I wasn't training for triathlons...I gotta hang on to this one! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My husband used to do triathlons so he gets it. He's supportive all the way. I just let my own "Mommy Guilt" get in the way. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My husband doesn't do tris. Yet. I got in shape so he wouldn't have to wait for me all the time when we're biking and running. Now I think I've got him talked into swimming. That was a no-go before. Now it's 'that might be a good idea'. Bwahahaha!!!

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My wife is very supportive, goes to all my races and doesn't complain much about my tri purchases. But it does bother me that she wants me to sit on the couch with her and watch tv when it is my bedtime. (She walks a lot, like 50+ miles last month, and exercises while I'm at work.) She complains that I go to sleep at 9. During the week I work 6am -4pm (so I leave at 5am). Get off work at 4 and workout in the afternoon (home by 6). Since I get up early during the week I just keep doing it on the weekends. Me: I'm going to bed. Wife: But it's only 9 Me: But I'm getting up at 5 so I can run and be back by 7:30 OR But I'm getting up early so I can go swim at the reseviour and be home by 9:00 OR But I'm getting up early so I can go bike and be home by 10:00. She likes to sleep in with my daughter. I usually have all my work done by noon so I can lay around. She sleeps in then works really hard to get her stuff done in the afternoon and gets mad that I am laying around. Did she not realize that I got up 4 or 5 hours before her today. That is why I go to sleep 2 hours before her... |

I have been a morning person all my life...no matter what, I seem to wake up between 4:15 and 5:15...sleeping in to me is 6 or 7...So I have this same conversation with my SO a lot. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My wife gave birth to our third child 6 months ago ( 3 kids since '04) she completed her first sprint in August and I can see the itch in her wanting more. Luckily she is still in her last year of residency or we'd be in serious trouble. I love this stuff, she loves this stuff but since she can't go full tilt I get most of the $$ for this stuff.....for now. Oh yea I forgot to mention that I stay at home with the kids. I have no (paying) job and a sugar mama who loves triathlons. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Since I started in '05 (didn't really log in '06) there has been a direct correlation on money spent on tri stuff and money spent on jewelry. I am just wondering what it is going to cost me for the cycle trainer and the wetsuit. I think she appreciates the trade off... but she thinks I'm nuts. |

Oh, and I want to get a workout in. Her: When are you going to fit that in? Me: In the morning. Her: But we have to be there at 10:00am Me: I know, I'll wake up at 5:15 to eat, start out at 5:45 and be done and showered by 9:00. Her: *blink* *blink*... But... Don't you want to sleep in. Whaaa? You just told me we were really busy and needed to get crackin' but I should sleep in? She thinks I'm completely nuts. Uhhh.... I think she wants YOU to sleep in with HER. Geeeesh. There is something cool about a weekend sleep in, even if it is only 1/2 hour, with your SO. Do I need to spell it out for you??? |

Really? ![]() I'm also like runningwolf... I don't sleep in. My internal alarm clock goes off and I am up. I don't fall back asleep. It has been that way since I was a kid. Sleeping in is maybe 6:30am. I know that there is "something cool" about staying in bed during the weekends... but isn't that what winter/off season is for? |
