All the sports-related recommondations suprised me! I'm such a fiction nut it didn't even cross my mind. Also, I haven't read any of it, so got some good starting points now.
So to obsess a little more...how about all time favorite books? Some of mine
(very incomplete list, just off the top of my head
):
The Wind Up Bird Chronicle - Murikami
The White Hotel - Thomas
Posession - Byatt
One Hundred Years of Solitude - Marques
(sp?
)
Austerlitz - Sebald
To the Lighthouse - Woolfe
Nights at the Circus - Carter
London Fields - Amis
Anything by Dostoevsky, Graham Greene, Evelyn Waugh, most Kundera
Don't read much American fiction, but love all Toni Morrison.
Prefer Emerson to Thoreau.
Can't stand Hemingway, but love Fitzgerald.
Playing with Water - Patterson
(non-fiction, sorta
) gorgeous tale of a man living alone on a Phillipine island, spearfishing for his supper.
Can you tell it's cold outside and I'm procrastinating on the long ride I'm planning this morning? Buzzin out of coffee, dreaming about books...
