I feel fine now, but my nose is stuffed not allowing me to breath. It does not make me happy at all. Therefore, no challenge for me this month, but I keep checking on your progress, wishing you all the best in the next 10 days of October Hopefully November will be full of challenges and no more sick days! Mary Hang in there Mary. I'll have something for us to try in November. Feel better soon. |

Extreme Veteran 1150 Nisbet, PA | Subject: RE: MI2: 23/30 +10% for October 11/23 - Walk - 30m - 1.60 miles - 18m 45s /Mi BONUS ROUND Subbing at Jersey Shore HS today and my lunch duty consisted of walking laps around the second floor as a hall monitor. Motorcycle boots aren't exactly made for speed walking so the pace is acceptable, if somewhat slower than normal. Still want to take advantage of this beautiful day to go biking after school, but if nothing else at least I got this workout in today. |

I had originally planned on doing three 4.5 mile laps around the River Rd but my phone died in the middle of my second lap. Took all the fun out of it. So at the end of my second lap I stopped. Good thing too, because it was supper time. I have to buy a phone mount for my Synapse too though. I wanted to ride that today and couldn't because I had no way to hold my phone/music. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that my avg pave was just under 12 mph. I think It would have been faster on the Synapse. Maybe I'll get three laps tomorrow, working Southside so I will get out of school earlier and have more time. Three laps with no concerns about time at all. Sure wish I had the money for new pair of running shoes but that will have to wait until next pay day. |

Master 2761 Los Angeles, CA | Subject: RE: MI2: 23/30 +10% for October 25/23 Mission complete! Ran for 2 hours this afternoon and volunteered at LA RnR Half Marathon this morning. Hmmm, now for some math: September totals: Swim: 9h 12m 05s - 26458 Yd Bike: 30h 34m 13s - 488.93 Mi Run: 21h 12m 44s - 110.39 Mi Current October totals: Swim: 6h 46m 34s - 18591 Yd Bike: 35h 45m - 600.42 Mi Run: 24h 04m 27s - 126 Mi Looks like I did about 10% more biking and running so far and a bit behind on swimming. I'm thinking swimming will match last month's volume by the end of the month. I'm gonna say with the additional biking and running, I think my 10% increase for swimming will be compensated for. How do you find time to train what appears to be EVERY day? hehehe thanks! I make myself wake up as early as possible and make sure I get an after work workout in before I head home. Sometimes I workout during lunch breaks too (if it's not 100°F). :) ETA: Just to clarify , I wake up early enough to workout in before work not just to wake up early, hehehe Edited by kloofyroland 2015-10-27 1:57 PM |

And Mary, relax, I've only manged to get 11 I think. New shoes should be here by Friday evening though. I've been wearing New Balance 13-4E for the past 8-10 years and am going back to them. The ball of the sole on the Saucony's is just not wide enough. First thing I'm gonna do is take them for a 4.5 mile power walk around the River Rd. If that doesn't blister me or cause me pain nothing will. Edited by leatherneckpa 2015-10-28 8:24 PM |

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm normally a night owl so it's been a hard effort to get myself to bed by 10:30pm. |

Since I had no class for 6th period I decided to walk the entire lunch period instead of just the second half, and then eat during 6th. Kids on the wrestling team told me 7 laps makes a mile and I finished my third mile just after bell. Wish I worked here full-time, I'd have a lunch workout every day. With apologies to Nancy Sinatra, these boots are NOT made for walking!! |

Extreme Veteran 1150 Nisbet, PA | Subject: RE: MI2: 23/30 +10% for October Not too happy with Running Warehouse right now. Their (edited by spelling police!) 2 day delivery just became 5 days, if I'm lucky. Heck, it took the 2 days just to ship the shoes. Guess it's a good thing I got my walk in at school today. About that walk, BTW, I noticed the pace was 16:14 and thought "No way, not in these boots." So I called one of the gym teachers and asked them about the distance. They said it's not quite 8 laps for a mile and that my 21 laps was more like 2.75. A pace of 17:43 seems much more reasonable, although even that seems fast in those boots. But I'm betting the gym teacher knows the distance better than I do. He ran it through his phone calculator, so I'm accepting his 2.75. My log has been corrected but I can't edit the previous posts. Extreme Veteran 1150 Nisbet, PA | Subject: RE: MI2: 23/30 +10% for October 12/23!? Wow, my challenge for October turned out to be a dismal fail. On the one hand I can blame it on the massive blisters (spelling again!) caused by poorly fitted running shoes and how the depression of not being able to walk to meet my goals just sapped my motivation. But that's just a bogus excuse. I let myself down, and I let myself blow off workouts when I could have switched up to swimming or biking. November WILL be better!
