I'd be willing to run any of the legs. I know we would all be running roughly a half mary but it is broken up over most of a day, I would think you'd have plenty of recovery time between you runs.

[2] Number of Vehicles and Types Allowed: Teams may use only one registered vehicle. Elite Teams will be allowed two registered vehicles. Team vehicles must be less than seven feet in width. No RVs, please.

"Elite Teams" are those whose team average 5K Time is under 21 minutes. Sorry guys, but I'm not quite there yet

We will only have 2 women on our team so we won't qualify for the mixed division, but there is an interesting team division called the Running Club division. Here's what they're about:
Running Club Division
Ever wondered who has the fastest running club around? This division will settle it once and for all. To be eligible for this special divisions teams must be made up of members of the same running club. No ringers allowed! (Like Team Nebraska)

Maybe we could pass our group as a running club? I mean, we also bike and swim, but we run too

Also - are we going to try to take on the costume challenge? Maybe we could all go as bowling pins and then whoever is the last runner will put on a bowling ball costume and come knock us all down at the finish! That would be kinda funny. Dunno how fun it would be running a half-mary dressed as a bowling pin though!

Brian-

If you still need another girl, I was thinking I really could do the Market to Market that weekend. I'm slated to do at least a 3 mile and a 5 mile run that weekend, so if I do 3 little runs with breaks in between that would be a pretty equivalent workout. Not too worried about injuries, anyway...I've been very fortunate with my running and tend to stay pretty healthy (with the exception of bronchitis this February). Either way, let me know. I could always show up as a cheerleader!

I think we need to do costumes! I think we might be too slow to win the trash picking up contest (because everyone will beat us to all the trash). and as a side note, when I comment about slowness I just mean myself and my loving husband.

Anyway. No, I do not want to wear a bowling pin costume. Maybe we could go as the dwarfs and someone could be Snow White. I want to be a dwarf, though. How many dwarfs are there supposed to be? If we do that, I call Grumpy! Any one else have good ideas? What comes in sets of 7 or 8 that we could dress up as?

Never mind! Brian just informed me that Snow White and the 7 dwarfs is the example on the race's website. So that might not be good. Although I still think it would be funny if the biggest burliest guy dressed up as Snow White.

Dude we definitely have room for you even if Jeff doesn't become a wuss! But in the event that he DOES become a wuss we will probably still need a van, in that case it's up to you to get one Okay I'm kidding. We'll just steal Jeff's van.

If you do wanna be on the team then we will have met the coed division requirement of at least 3 members of the team being of each gender! So we could go that route or just enter into the general category. It's up to you guys.

You Lincoln Marathon/Half Marathoners - did you know Dean Karnazes is going to be speaking at the event this year?

Okay my mom and I brainstormed a little bit in the car today, some of the more interesting ideas that came up:

Fast Food Mascots [Ronald McD, Wendys girl, scary Burger King dude]
Casino icons [Dice, poker chips, cards, slot machines, etc]
Playing Cards [4 kings, 3 queens, and 1 jack or a joker - Jeremy]
Billiard balls
The Village People
Famous game show hosts
An entire cast from a popular television show or movie
Pirates of the Caribbean

Brynn and I thought about maybe each one of us being an X-men [dibs on Wolverine!], finding a wheelchair and having someone push around the bald guy - I forget his name.

We don't have to do the costume thing but it might be kinda fun if we can all think of something that we like. Just have to be able to run in them [at a faster-than-10-minute-clip]

Yay, I'm totally in! I would love to run in a costume, as long as we can make it somewhat comfortable. Anything more people-shaped (as opposed to bowling pins or billiard balls) would probably be a bit more practical. That's my two cents so far.

Oh, here's a TV show: Gilligan's Island
1. Skipper
2. Gilligan
3. Professor
4. Mary Ann
5. Ginger
6. Millionaire
7. Millionaire's wife
8. ?? --maybe a palm tree or a scary native

This Kansas girl likes that idea also. Someone could also be Toto if we can't find the stuff for costumes for one of the characters Ali listed. I also really like the idea of Secret Service agents! I've always wanted to be one of those guys.

Holy cow, I can't believe I forgot Toto!

So for the Secret Service idea, would our last runner be the President and we escort them in?

Okay I'm going to try and revive this thread here. I got an email a week or so ago from the M2M folks saying there were 120 out of 150 teams already signed up, so this thing might sell out after all! They had an ad in the back of last month's Runner's World so that might have caught some folks from the region [thinking IA, KS, MO, CO, etc]. Brynn and I FINALLY have the financial resources to commit to this thing and the timing couldn't be better.

By a show of hands, who's still interested in giving this thing a go?

It's sold out according to the race sight....

But we could all still volunteer, and dress up. That would be fun.

THANKS for stealing my thunder, honey! Just got off the phone with KMac40 [Kevin] and he said there's an event the same day out in Brainard that has a 4-miler and a hilly half-marathon. This stinks! Sorry we waited so long, we seriously finally got caught up with our finances. The week of IMKS we even had to dip into savings because of the way our paychecks worked out [we used to get paid on opposite Fridays, now we get paid on the same Friday, every two weeks].

Well, something to look forward to next year! Guess it might be a good thing too, sometimes the inaugural event is where they work out the kinks and make it smooth sailing for the next year.

I know of quite a few people who'd hoped to get in, and suspect there was just a lot more demand than anticipated.

Now that Brainerd run is fun. . . in a gruesome sort of way!  Seriously, it is a great small town run with wonderful food (last year), good showers, and crazy terrain.  They do an ulta every year there too.  Its the same day and not far from either Lincoln or Omaha.  It is unique and people who've done it all understand because of the hills and such.  Ask around and see if runners know it.  See this link for more info:

 http://dalenielsen68626.tripod.com/

The oath before starting is something like, "Its a foolish thing I am about to do, but I am going to do it anyway! If I get hurt, its my own damned fault!"
