OK - this challenge is right up my alley.  Put me down for the following:

Run - 1,080 minutes (18 hours)

Swim - 540 minutes (9 hours)

KristenT - 2006-07-30 9:34 PM When this starts, how so we record "mileage/yardage"? Post here?

To All:

I'll make another thread for the actual challenge later today that will reiterate the following.  But to answer this question now is important.

Everyone must post their training in their logs and make their logs Public. If your new to logging feel free to PM me with any questions you may have.  Every Monday around Noon I'll check your logs for the previous week data and add it to the Spreadsheet.  If it looks like I have all the data for everyone I'll post the spreadsheet on the thread.  If not I'll hold off to the evening time then post it.

We have a fair number participating so I'll look into organizing some sort of randomized "Teams" so we can have some fun with the 'us against them'.  Looks like I'll have to separate the Benton's  This helps to keep things interesting, remember this is to help make training a bit more motivational and not kill ourselves!

Injury or Illnesses; God forbid if you happen to get sick or injured please note this in your logs and use the "Injured/Sick" drop box, we'll cut you some slack!

So please look for the new thread this evening for the Actual Challenge entitled "August Swim & Run Challenge 7/31 to 9/3" or something like that.  This will be the official thread for us to post motivation, encouragement, weekly bragging and the tracking spreadsheet.  I'll post the initial spreadsheet there with everyone's goals.

Good luck everyone, day #1 is today...

Don

Ahhh. I'm terrible at the run and so in order to get better I'm going to put 40 miles with the hope that I will exceed it...and 10,000yds in the pool....because I've been slacking in both areas!

I have to keep up w/ the bike portion b/c of the MS150 and a longer ride planned the first week of October, but I need to step UP the others...BADLY! Here Goes!!!!

Okay, I wanna need to play....

Run:  100 miles
Swim:  18,000m

Both of these will be a stretch for me, looking at my current volume.  BUT - with my first Oly coming up, I need to refocus and get a-movin'.

I need to do this one, I like the bike best, so that is what I do most, so maybe this will keep me motivated to run and swim. I love the idea of making it into a team challenge!

My goals may not seem like much, but are probably about the most I have ever done in a month so they will be challenging for me!

I am going to go for:

30 miles running
7000 yards swimming

I'd like to join too. I've been slacking on my running and I would really, really like to improve. My goals for August are as follows:

run: 330 minutes

swim: 10000 yards

Maybe a challenge of this sort will also help me in the weight-loss challenge as well Wink

Ahhh the motivation I need. After a few months of slacking I've signed up for a early winter marathong. If I stay on my current training schedule that should put me right at 115 for the month. A little swimming on cross training days can never hurt.

My pledge

Running: 115 miles
Swimming: 10000yards

i'm in. never done a challenge, this looks like a great way to stay on track.

swim - 2500yards - training for my first tri, a sprint in 2 months. this will be the first month of actual swim training for me, so i'm not sure on what number to post. plus i'll loose a week of pool time while on vacation .. starting low, plan to exceed it, just not sure how it looks yet.

run - 123 miles, with a half on 9/3

Hey skunkworxz: What half are you doing in September? I'm planning on doing the Seattle marathon in Nov and that would fit right in my plans.

I guess I need to change my profile, because I am now a Seattle resident.

Super Jock n Jill half. http://superjocknjill.com/feature.htm

I'm kicking around Seattle in Nov as well, I did it 10 years ago - my first and only marathon. I figure I'll see how I do in the half..

OK, if there is still room I'd like to join in.  Gonna be starting slow though, this is motivation/rehab for a knee injury.

Everyone that wanted to play on this thread here was included in the "official" thread for the Aug Swim-Run challenge (see above link), so you better be training!
