Sept running has been going according to plan, the bike (road) is lacking a bit.  Did have a fun mtn bike ride Friday up to the top of Georgia pass.

I know that this challenge is almost half over but – could I join?  While I joined BT in April due to DH’s encouragement, I didn’t participate in the forums because I felt like a poser since I wasn’t a triathlete.  Now I’m training for my first tri at the end of Oct.

I saw this challenge and I really want to participate - pretty please with sugar on top.  The first half of the year, I had no biking or swimming but I’d like to set a bike goal.

Run thru Jun -  497.5 miles:

Total 2012 Running – 1000 miles (Barely missed the last two years)

 Total 2012 Biking – 300 miles

Currently I’m recovering from illness and back issues so I’ve lost some training time.  But as of this date,  I have 687 running miles and 100 biking miles.  I've got some swimming but I haven't kept up with distance not time.

Slacked the first few weeks but finally back on track. Lots of work to do the last 3 months to double up but I think it is doable.

Welcome! This site is a great place for encouragement, and kicks in the butt when needed. Good luck in your tri. You will feel amazing when you finish it.

About there on the bike, may make it by the end of Columbus Day.  Running would have been closer had I been able to run in July.  Still 3  months left should double that up before Thanksgiving

Thanks to all of you for the welcome.

I've been keeping a spreadsheet of my running for years but I love BT's training log.  Entered my miles for the year and found a few places where I was wrong - higher or lower.  Now I'm at 156 bike miles which make me happy; goal is 300 miles.  But crap, running miles is just below 698 and my goal is 1000 miles.  I.do.NOT.want.to.miss.1000.miles.this.year.  I was at 940 for 2010 and 980 for 2011.  I've got to get busy.  This will be the week of doubles.  Tomorrow will be a hectic day at work but I think I'll go in early, put some things in production, and then slip out for a mile or two before everyone comes in.  I hope.

If anyone has Comcast, "Race Across the Sky" and "Spirit of the Marathon" are under free movies.  Race Across the Sky ends tomorrow.

I'm not doing so great on some of my goals.  Darn hip and back have been major issues for me this year.

I vote to stop having those issues, Kendra! You are still doing good at getting out there and trying!

I know that not all issues are from the same cause but I'll mention in case it helps.  Last month, my back was killing me.  I tried to power thru but no luck.  Doc prescribed muscle relaxers and I tried them; again no luck.  Finally I noticed that doing some back stretches seem to help and also noticed that the hips were tight and sore.  Went to get a physical therapy/sports massage and I was pain free for the first time in two weeks.  Hubby had suggested it the first day of pain but of course I didn't listen to him.

Hope you feel better.

Same for me.  Good luck on it.

I'm crurrently at 194.64 of the 300 mile bike goal.  784.70 of 1000 running goal.  I think it's doable but dang, I'm going to make it close.

Getting there, hit the bike now just a little more to get 2000 road miles.   On the run, it is the first time I have strung 60+ miles a month 3 in a row since the middle of 2008

I am on goal for my running and my swim, but the biking may not happen. Still, the numbers were so low for the first half of the year, I SHOULD be able to do it.

I'm still behind but I've gotten a lot closer now.  My biking miles are still low but I plan on getting in some sessions during my taper and then after my race.  Running miles are almost on track and if I keep up with my training plan, I think I'll cruise in a week or so before the new year.  This challenge has been great tho for keeping me on focus.
