I am also leaving for Va Beach for the long weekend....it is such a shame that Sunday is still August since I am running 13.1 miles that day!

Have a wonderful weekend Auggies!   Running

JohnDeere - 2008-08-29 8:19 AM ...everybody on the team needs to post on this thread and "open up to the team". You know, get that team vibe thing going, goals and success stories. So...you will get that guilty feeling like you are letting your teammates down. Or you get that guilt feeling going after skipping out on running for a few days in a row for whatever reason.

My name's Sal, 44.  Started marathoning in 2003, triathlons in 2004.

Goals: well, my initial run goal was low (27 miles), but looks like I'll be bumping that up to run a marathon in October.

Biggest success story this year: bringing my swim times down in my triathlon events.

Hi everyone!  I had a great time this weekend!  I ended up doing the run only at the triathlon.  It was fun.  Race report is up.  Cheers!

That is dedication. I would not have bothered going just to run.

About me, I surfed across BT.com last September. I joined the running challenge and was really motivated. I have kind of been waiting for September just for the running challenge.
I really enjoy the site and have been semi-motivated to do a Tri.

I have been running off and on for 11 years due to the fact that I'm in the Army Reserve. I have to be in descent running shape at least once a year to pass a two mile run. So, I literally remember the days when I could knock out 6 minute miles with ease, now I'm lucky to hit 8 minute miles.

The only organized event I've ever ran is a 5k in Baghdad, Iraq this past February. I did that mainly for the T-shirt. I really enjoyed it and I hope to get in on some 5k/10ks/Half mary's in my area this fall.

My running partner is my two year old daughter (Claire). We bought a running stroller when she was about 6 months and she has matured to become my navigator/coach. She is constantly telling me, "That way daddy, that way" and "Faster, faster". As she gains weight, it makes the runs tougher, but it is all good.

If I can get in descent running shape (I mean easy 8 minute miles), I am hoping to buy a bike and gym membership to start swimming; and do a Tri.

Oh, I long for the days of 8 minute miles.  ~sigh~  They are not going to be a part of my life for awhile.

That is a great story!  I bet running while pushing your daughter is building up some awesome strength!  You should consider getting the bike and gym membership before hitting the 8 minute miles...cross training rules.  And you deserve it!  :-)

I'll give a quick bio...

I've been active my entire life, but got fat in college.  I topped out somewhere around 215lb even though I was trying to work out consistently.  I stumbled into a beginner triathlon clinic at my gym and became addicted to the triathlon lifestyle.  I've lost 50-60 pounds so far.  Last year was my first season -- I started not being able to run even a mile, but by the end of the year I had done 2 sprint tris and a bunch of 5k runs.  This year I kicked off the season with a half marathon, a handful of sprint tris, an olympic tri, and then a half ironman!  I'm doing my first full marathon in a month.  Ironman Arizona next year, baby!!!!

Personal life -- I'm 29, female, recently engaged to the most supportive dude you can imagine, work as a Chemical Engineer, and before triathlon was an avid whitewater kayaker.  Oh, and I love cookies.

Damn... Went for my third run since Ironman a year ago.  Took about 40 min to run 5k (run/walk).  To put that in perspective for me I ran a 8k final leg of a tri I was in last year averaging 6:58 min/mi.  I have slowed down just a tad!  Looks like I have some work to do

Dear Team Captains,

This is the first weekend of reporting.  Please email me your results by Sunday.  The earlier the better!!

My email is shawnbarr99@ yahoo.com.

What I need:

·         Each team members name and their miles run from 9/1 to 9/6

It would be a good idea if you PM all your team members today and remind them to post their miles asap and definitely before Saturday night.

Thanks for being a captain!! Please let me know if you have questions.

Thanks!!

ps...whew, this community organizer stuff is hard work :-)

Hi Team.  We're almost through week 1!  In theory I should be at 25 miles by the end of Saturday, but that isn't going to happen.  Not to fret though, because next weekend is my 20-miler.  Hmf, too bad the 16-miler last weekend was still in August...  Anyway, I'm heading out for a short run tonight and then knocking out 12 on Sunday.  What runs do the rest of you have planned.

By the way, what exactly is an "Auggie"?

OHHHHH - Team Captains,

If your team members do NOT have anything posted by Saturday night.  Just send me what they have; even if it is ZERO.

There's no way I or you can wait around for people to post their miles.

Having a big, fat ZERO or forgetting to log miles will be great fodder for Harassment and Trash Talking next week.

Thanks!!

Ps...once I have your numbers and post results on Monday, I will not make adjustment for people who whine, "I forgot to post my miles."  Babies.

Runnin' god has spoken.

Rest day.  Did a short warm-up run and some stretching and core.  Sprint tomorrow (880 yds, 18 mile bike, 5 mile run).  I start ramping up miles next Saturday.

By the way, what exactly is an "Auggie"?

I'll answer this one.  I live up here in the Twin Cities area.  The college is Augsburg College...it's short for Augsburg...original, huh...

Here are the results thru Friday Sept 5th.

User Name Goal (mi) Week 1 % of Total
OwlGirl 25 0 0
StarLinda 150 13.85 9.23
JohnDeere 50 10.5 21
SdBryant 100 10.5 10.5
Sparco 27 9.16 33.93
Chadsgirl 120 0 0
Global 35 3.1 8.86

I'll be traveling all day tomorrow and tomorrow night. So, I'm going to go ahead and report the mileage for this week. Any miles you run on Saturday, I'll definetly pick up in the report for next week.

The percentages are looking good. Keep up the good work.

The bad note: Chadsgirl is missing in action. Nothing has been logged/blogged this week. Has anybody heard from her?
