Sappho - never thought of that, I've never even had a bike without "knobbly tires" and I'm still figuring out the gears, lol - only the second bike I've had with gears - but I may look at it at a later date.

Dumb question - is it worth getting aero bars on that bike? I just looked at the price of the road bikes and they're a bit rich for my blood, but when I do aero position on the gym bike I seem a lot more comfortable than when I use the regular sitting up with the traditional handlebar set up

van_paulus - 2012-07-04 6:06 PM 3 sessions down, was volunteering this morning I paced the 10k this morning on my mountain bike Our lead runner was so fast ! Kicking in 5:15 splits and he picked it up in the last 500 after a half - hour at that pace . Our second place runner is the manager of the local running store . Great experience to see the race through their eyes .

I have no idea what a race looks like without the backside of a lot of people in front of me...  BOP baby, BOP!

Hi Europcar teammates! I just got back from vacation and am catching up. Yes, I rode my road bike while we were gone - a 2008 Specialized Ruby. I hit the link to the spreadsheet but then it told me I needed to be invited in so I'll wait for some kind of approval before I can enter my goals and what I've done so far. I've not done a challenge on BT before so I'm not sure what I'm doing except trying to pedal my bike A LOT! I'll be riding on my trainer in my workout room until the weather breaks because I'm old and I will NOT ride outside in 103 temps. Don't know where the rest of you are from but that's unbearable here in Indiana. Looking forward to "riding" together!

- Brenda

No worries!  wbayek also mentioned being on vacation until next Sunday, so he said he won't be logging until then.  Our standings will just have to be un-meaningful until he gets back.  No big deal!

Ok, I got an hour on the trainer done yesterday, and another 2 hours today.  It's been in the triple digits the past few days and I've already had a friend suffer from heat exhaustion trying to train in this weather!  So I decided to play it safe and set up my trainer yesterday.  I can't believe I'm riding my trainer in the middle of winter, but I really don't want heat stroke!

Hey teammates - I'm finally online and updated my numbers. Hope everyone is staying healthy and feeling strong.

I had a huge week, so I'm a little ahead and may change my goal to a quarter TdF.  347 miles logged and our team average is now 27.63% so we're MOP!  Yeehaw, and ride safe.

Hey teamies. Just done my commute (7.1 miles) and did an extra 20 minutes on the trainer. Was going to go further but knee felt tweaky. Gonna try and replicate this tomorrow and wednesday. Just my commute Thursday.

That is insane heat.  Good call on the trainer and stay safe above all else.

Lucky.  It's been 80-90F at dawn around here the past few weeks.

I usually do my long runs Saturday morning, and I gave up this weekend when I realized I would have to run at 3am if I wanted to do it in "cool" weather (aka 83F/ heat index of 88F).  Gladly the heat wave broke Saturday night, so I was able to do my long run Sunday evening.

Hey teammies!  I did my first bike commute of the challenge today!  I usually commute every day in the summer, but this year the heat has been impossible.  It's supposed to be cooler this week, so I'll try to catch up on my "stages" by commuting most days this week.  My commutes on Weds and Thurs will be longer due to having after-work obligations that are a bit of a ways from home/work.
