Champion 7546 Santa Cruz, California | Subject: RE: May "President's Cup" challenge - US West Team Hi Team...I am fairly new to this sport. I am 50 years old with a fabulous DH of 27 years who can not do tris do to hip issues...I have a DD who is 26 and whom I am presently visiting in San Diego Pacific Beach area. I came to BT in November of last year after a family member passed away in an ironman competition. I was a retired mtn biker and also retired from competitive open and coed ultimate frisbee team...had been living the life of a couch potato for some four plus years after retiring from all sports - and took up the bad habit of smoking....was at my family members funeral and after meeting many of the amazing triathletes I decided to do a triathlon in her honor...I quit smoking within two weeks of the funeral..and was running, biking and swimming within the first month. I could barely run a mile when I started..I WAS IN VERY BAD SHAPE and had gained lots of weight since retiring from all exercise. I have now lost over 40 lbs and feeling fabulous! I competed in my first triathlon last weekend and happy to announce that not only did I have a blast, but I am now a TRIATHLETE!!! I am doing my first OWS this weekend in my second tri and very VERY scared about it, but know that I can do it! I am racing with my DD and this will be her first tri! I NEED THE TEAM HELP WIth THIS: I hope that you wil all keep you eye on me and push me into the pool as this is my WEAKEST link! I need to commit to a masters team, as I suk in the pool! LETS GO WEST COASTERS! Good to see all you past teammates Lynne, Geof, Brian, Leslie Karen, Naners (sparticus) and love that my two buddies that I was able to pre-ride and run Moraga with Geof and Brian are on the team! Plus love to meet new people and look forward to getting to know you all...We are sooo gonna rock this challenge!! LETS GOOO TEAM! does anyone want to be the one to make the chart with team names and link to the spreadsheet? if not, I will do it....but must let you know that it may be slow going since I am on vaca this week til Wed of next week....I will check in later to see if there is anyone else who will do it.... When you introduce yourself...if there is anything that you would like extra support or motivation in...let us know....there is no time like the present time to motivate! GO WEST COAST and Lone COLORADIAN LETS GO! Edited by Girl Passing on Left 2008-05-01 11:29 AM |

Like Brian, my "next big thing" is Vineman 70.3 in July, though I have FOR THIS MONTH an Oly tri and a half-marathon coming up quickly. Geoff, super good luck at Wildflower! I know most of the gals here and you are a SPRITELY bunch!!! Yay! My goals are 30K swimming, 25 hr biking, 55 mi running. |

So glad to see you are up for a marathon ... the training and race will be a wonderful journey. P.S. I'm happy to cook up a clickable-links team roster to put in our logs as soon as it looks like we have most of our members, since folks will still be streaming in for a few days. Actually, I'm shooting for three. The third depends on how the fall schedule turns out, whether I do a marathon and when, and which IM I'll be doing next year. Nothing like jumping in with two, er three? feet. |

Come race day we'll be swimming, biking, running, and drinking wine. In that order...I hope. They always say "nothing new on race day." So really, it's just good training! Subject: RE: May "President's Cup" challenge - US West Team Hey guys and ladies. My name is Oliver and this is my second full season in triathlons. My goals are to swim10000m, Bike 480mi and run 50mi. It is going to be a busy month for me on the personal side so I am going to have to be more creative than normal to fit all the workouts I want in. As for races I have the Tri-4-Real in Sacramento in June, the Vineman half-aquabike in August and probably a couple other afterwards. Main goal overall is to continue building a good base for an attempt at the full Vineman next year. It seems we have a lot of people in this group that will do part of the Vineman series. It is a great venue. Definietly take some extra days and enjoy the great wine tasting afterwards (better than Napa in my opinion). |

Expert 1022 | Subject: RE: May "President's Cup" challenge - US West Team naners - 2008-04-30 12:21 PM Wow, they're quick! Thanks MDHillSlug and gillyfev! Another Hawaiian here...just a little late to sign up for the fun. I was on Hawaiian time . My goals for the month are: swim: 21,000 yards It's a little less than my training plan, but this month is going to be a crazy one for me. These challenges help motivate me to get those miles in even if I would rather stay on my couch. I'm training for the Vineman 70.3 in July. I think that training's been chugging along, but I need to drink more wine to make sure that I'm ready for the winery visits after the race. I've been slacking. . I think that we are on the same plan. Vineman is going to be exciting! |
