Anyone who wants to add this chart into their logs, just click on your control panel link, click the 'goals' tab. Copy all of the following and paste it into your short-term or long-term goals section. <table border=6 bordercolordark=black bordercolorlight=black background="http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1600/477965/19889066/324226362.jpg"> <tr><td align="center"> <a href="http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=122069"><font color=black><font size=5><b> Team Columbia</b></font></font></a> <font color=CC9933><b>July Challenge</b></font> <a href="http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pfYL7DR_dx-BUDYckTTnqcw&hl=en"><font color=3300CC>Spreadsheet</a> <a href="http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/index-weekly.asp?memberid=96799"><font color=black><b>ceilidh</b></font></a> <a href="http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/index-weekly.asp?memberid=90367"><font color=black><b>Kenny Black</b></font></a> <a href="http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/index-weekly.asp?memberid=75884"><font color=black><b>Krazylegs</b></font></a> <a href="http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/index-weekly.asp?memberid=47161"><font color=black><b>patricia7</b></font></a> <a href="http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/index-weekly.asp?memberid=21562"><font color=black><b>peto_primo</b></font></a> <a href="http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/index-weekly.asp?memberid=72839"><font color=black><b>roni_runnw</b></font></a> <a href="http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/index-weekly.asp?memberid=78411"><font color=black><b>shoeless</b></font></a> <a href="http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/index-weekly.asp?memberid=104596"><font color=black><b>trainergirlmick</b></font></a> <a href="http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/index-weekly.asp?memberid=74194"><font color=black><b>Redknight</b></font></a> </b></td></tr></table> |

Elite 3489 Lakewood, CO | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread KrazyLegs - 2008-07-04 10:19 PM ok. I was thinking of applying points for each of the three different kind of rides. So maybe I will log that instead of minutes or times. In the tour the first person up a Cat 1 climb gets 15 points and on a cat 4 climb they get 3. And the first in a TT also gets 15. So that's 117 total for my planned stages. Who's riding tomorrow?
I think what scares me is that you know what the categories are of you climbs since that is such an arbitrary distinction (at least at the tour)
I played around with some of the formula's on the spreadsheet since the % complete was just hard-coded zero. I don't know if that is what Cat will officially use or what, but I think it works. As for at the end or week 3 I just plugged in 100% for all of us since this whole team is going to make it to the Champs-Élysées and enjoy our victory lap

I may try to work on it tomorrow. It's because the image isn't wide enough for the text.... So the picture starts over again. The fix is to make the table width the same as the image's width (240 pixels) plus the borderwidth (6 pixels). Just add width="246" into the table command, like this: <table border=6 width ="246" background="http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1600/477965/19889066/324226362.jpg"> The problem is that this may give you a narrow table...... I can tell you how I normally do it (but I dont know that its the official way but Im not very tech savvy) I just hit quote on the post as if Im going to reply to it in the thread.... copy everything than comes up in the window.... (including the picture) ... then paste it all into my goals on my training log and remove things like the <Quote> marks to tidy it up... Might work for you... if not some one smarter than me will hopefully be able to help! |

Master 1952 Guelph, Ontario | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread patricia7 - 2008-07-05 5:42 PM Rob, what's your next race after Owen Sound? I'd love to recover and race with you before the end of the season. Hey Patricia. After Owen Sound I don't have anything booked until The Guelph Lakes 2. If you're up for that one I love to hook up here and race with you. I don't have much planned for August as my little girl is getting married on August 16. I took Saturday off from trainng for a little me time. I think I got a little too much of the me in there. I went to the Italian Canadian festival that is going on here this weekend met my brother in law and nephew and proceeded to have a couple too many wobbly pops. Woke up with a head ache so I thought a quick run to the gym would fix that. Instead of a light workout I ended up doing a 40 K bike. That might not be much to some of you but it's the first time I have gone that far in one sitting (pardon the pun). I don't htink my time was too bad. 81 miutes on the nose. That time puts me at about 25% of my goal for the challenge. I really had not planned on going that far. It was just one of those things where you keep going 11more km and pretty soon you are there. |

Extreme Veteran 665 Vancouver, British Columbia | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread yes, it took some searching to find out about the hill categories. I am basing it off of this http://www.velonews.com/article/78643 which says:
So my cat 4 hill by my house is 2.5km with an average 5% and the mountain is 11km at 7.5 Pat: hurray for the dedication to do the trainer workouts. and as I am learning it really is all about the watts Everyone coming to town for worlds was so scared of that hill in Stanley Park and they wouldn't believe us when we said it wasn't that bad. Scott: .85.... wow! that's awesome!! well I am already behind as the weather didn't agree with my desire to ride. so I stayed indoors and baked a cake Heading out of town today until thursday night so I will be on off and on but zero bike time. just all it a recovery week for all the riding I will do when I get back! happy weekend!

Expert 602 Ontario, Canada | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread peto_primo - 2008-07-05 9:40 PM but I reserve the option of reducing it if that .85 of a kid becomes a full #4 by more than a week early (due date is Aug 4 but inhouse projections are looking more like the last weekend of Le Tour) any earlier than that and I will fall short. Awesome, Scott, congrats. And down the road, Redknight - 2008-07-06 12:06 PM I don't have much planned for August as my little girl is getting married on August 16. How she grows up so quickly... congrats Rob. Rob, if I'm able to race again this season, I'll probably do an HSBC one since they've given me a credit when I pulled out of Binbrook last minute. Expert 602 Ontario, Canada | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread July 6, 2008 - US Team Columbia's Kim Kirchen had another good day to place second in Stage Two of the Tour de France. The result earned Kirchen the Green Points Jersey and moved him up into second place in the general classification, one second behind race leader Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d'Epargne). Expert 1202 Montana | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread KrazyLegs - 2008-07-04 11:30 PM So if I am after the poka dots who's after the other jerseys? Anyone willing to step up and throw in a few 1 minute sprint intervals in each of their stages and go after the green jersey? While we're not all youngsters who is the newest to the bike/ has just discovered their love of it? White jersey anyone? Peto_primo has the most minutes planned so does that mean you're going for yellow? there are also the p"rix de combativité" for the most aggressive riders... so I say we will have to decide who is the most motivated and inspire addicted team member as the challenge goes on to give them this award. or who ever has the best trash talk for the other teamsApparantly I know very little about the TdF, so if you would please explain how you earn the colored jersey's, I'd be happy to challenge myself to get one! TIA |

Expert 1202 Montana | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread I just put in my second stage. Not as far as I had hoped, because I had to work around the kids' schedules today. Have to go pick some kids up at a leathercraft workshop now. Tomorrow I am going out of town until Friday with 8 teenagers to State 4-H Congress. Will only be able to take a couple of runs, and maybe a swim while I'm away. Am I captain? I'll have to start signing my posts: Captain Columbia, has a nice ring to it. |

Elite 3489 Lakewood, CO | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread Hey Heidi, I know there are better answers out there, but I found a web site that had this answer YELLOW Awarded to the leader in the general classification, i.e. the man in front overall. It was created in 1919 as an homage to the yellow paper of l'Auto magazine, founder of the Tour de France in 1903. Eddy 'the Cannibal' Merckx wore it for a record 111 days. GREEN The next most prestigious jersey is given to the leader in the points classification which rewards sprinters. During each stage, points are attributed during the intermediary sprints and at the finish. The jersey was introduced in 1953. Germany's Erik Zabel won it a record six consecutive times between 1996 and 2001. POLKA-DOT Awarded to the rider who earns most of the points at each summit of a hill or pass. The winner is known as the King of the Mountains. Although the award was introduced in 1933, the distinctive jersey was not introduced until 1975. Scotland's Robert Millar was King of the Mountains in 1984. WHITE The newest of the jerseys was introduced in 1975. Given to the best young rider (i.e. under 25) in the general classification, it was abandoned in 1989 but reintroduced in 1999. Edited by peto_primo 2008-07-07 11:38 PM |
