I can't wait. No more elliptical he!!. And about the chattiness, I'm on Team Post Padding for the Four is More Challenge so I'll try not to transfer those skills over here too much But I do enjoy a chatty group, it's great for motivation. Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend! Hey that is great news Kristin I was talking with one of my club mates this morning who is also recovering from a bike smash and we all agreed that Doctors usually underestimate our ability to recover (Quicker then folks who are not as active that is). Good to know! I enjoy a bit of post padding I couldn't agree more about the docs. Mine couldn't believe I swam a mile this morning with one arm. He said he was going to start sharing that story with his patients. I then asked him if I could return straight to full running volume and he said "everything you've been able to do so far has really surprised me so go for it." So while the sport led to my injury, I agree that it also led to a faster recovery. |

Regular 100 San Antonio, TX | Subject: RE: Ephs Team Thread (September Run Challenge) Hey Team! Russell checking in here. Been running for awhile, but never really for distance. My goal of 35 seems so small in comparison, but it seems like a good goal for me and will be my highest single month. September will be a busy work month for me, and I training for other tri's and an MS150 ride. Glad to be a part of the Ephs, Russell |

Pro 4608 Brooklyn, NY | Subject: RE: Ephs Team Thread (September Run Challenge) Today was beyond lazy so I'm planning to get started tomorrow. I have 2-3 more days of being confined to the elliptical, then I'm heading out for my first run since August 8. Can't wait! Hope everyone has a great week |

Master 1292 McKinney, TX | Subject: RE: Ephs Team Thread (September Run Challenge) Well, I got off to a reasonably good start yesterday running in the woods. Felt OK on my warmup mile on a trail to the road, did 3 hilly out and back miles in Zone 2, seeing 6 deer on the way. Then I headed back for an easy cool down on the trail back to the cabin. Was 1/3 of a mile away from the cabin when it hit me - bathroomus interruptus. Got my 5 miles in; I just hope I can tell the difference between oak leaves and poison ivy. Running is FUN. |

Pro 4608 Brooklyn, NY | Subject: RE: Ephs Team Thread (September Run Challenge) Nice work everyone! I ran my first "real" mile today since my bike crash 3 weeks ago. Of course I'm not allowed to run, according to my orthopedist, but I couldn't resist. I did it on the treadmill to escape 90 degree weather and spare my broken shoulder the beating. I suffered through 4 miles on the elliptical yet again for a total of 5 miles today! |

I was up at our cabin last week and saw 15 deer on one of my runs. A couple days later I saw a guy bow hunting, in a 'no hunting' area and I'm not even sure if the season had started. I wasn't about to say anything though, given I was armed only with an iPod. Good start everyone! |

Champion 5345 Carlsbad, California | Subject: RE: Ephs Team Thread (September Run Challenge) Did a 16 Mile Medium/Long run tonight after work with the last 8 miles at full Marathon Pace. It was a nice run athough I started to get sleepy about @ about mile 10 or so but I think it was just my nutrition getting a bit thin. (I slammed a Gel and felt better) Now at: Month to Date: 24 Miles - 9.6% Complete |

Master 1292 McKinney, TX | Subject: RE: Ephs Team Thread (September Run Challenge) Had a great run last night on the treddy. I'm ready for it to get cooler here (like into the 80s) so I can do some lunchtime runs outside instead of in the afternoon after I pickup the kids and drag them to the gym. Still, I was pleased. Usually I do well the first mile after the WU mile, and then my HR gets out of control, making each subsequent mile slower. Yesterday it stayed right on target and I was actually able to make my second mile faster than my first and hold that pace for most of my 3rd before I starting seeing too high of a HR. Always good to see progress like that. Keep running folks! |

Pro 4608 Brooklyn, NY | Subject: RE: Ephs Team Thread (September Run Challenge) I ran for the first time (aside from my cheater mile the other day) in 4 weeks. I had to do it on the treadmill because it was 51 and pouring here in Madison when I got up this morning. It was likely a blessing in disguise since I rarely choose the treadmill and I think it was better for me given how long it's been since I've run. I did 4 miles and actually averaged a slightly faster pace than before my injury. My shoulder was hurting, but not where the bone is broken, it was more in the muscles around it since I haven't moved it for so long. It will be interesting to see how I feel tomorrow. I'm just thrilled my running fitness isn't entirely gone, but my long runs will be another story. I did 3 more miles on the elliptical for a total of 7 miles today. I'm 10% of the way (goal 120 miles). I'm hoping to phase out the elliptical entirely after another week, but for now the doc advised me to do some of my run mileage there. Happy running! |

Glad to hear your back on the move Seems to me (As I recall from my injury) the only thing that tends to get soft rather quickly is the feet. I remember having problems with my feet as I was getting back into it |

Champion 5345 Carlsbad, California | Subject: RE: Ephs Team Thread (September Run Challenge) Did 4 more miles at recovery pace on the trails around my house tonight after work. I was definitely feeling a bit ragged when I got home but I feel much better once I got the feet moving. (I Love Recovery Runs) I did the run Naked (No Electronics) and it felt great to just get out and enjoy my surroundings and not be so tuned into pace. Now at: 36 Miles - 14.4% Complete |
