I got in a decent run around noon. It was very windy - 25-30 with gusts to 40 - and I had to dodge blowing tumbleweeds. I ran again later in the afternoon with my 11 year old son. Altogether for the day it was about 12 miles.

Well, I ran just over 306 miles in October, but with the holiday this month and a little taper for an early December half marathon I figured 225 would be an OK goal.

Weather or not, I still run. Unless it's a downpour of rain or a blizzard I run outside. I have a good treadmill for the few days when I'm forced inside. The way I figure, the weather on race days isn't always the best. If I never train in bad weather I'll do poorly in those races. The early part of this year I did at least a half dozen or so races in miserable weather and had PRs in several.

Question.... I know we're only a few days into the month, but does anybody know if there will be an "official" place to log our miles each week??

Go back to the first post in this thread. There is a link to the team spreadsheet there for logging miles or minutes.

I managed a bit more than 11 miles today. It was much colder, but not quite as windy. I had to get out my cold weather gear. I don't like being cold on longer runs. The days of t-shirts and shorts are getting fewer.

So, Pumpkins - what are your plans for achieving your goal? BigDH and I have posted our plans - what about the rest of you?

<-- work in progress, long run tonight. After my 30k trail race 10 days ago I have been easing back into my regular routine and testing the endurance (wasn't there on Sunday). We shall see if I am back up to snuff on tonights run.. hrm yups snowing again. I have been tweeking my plan to try to get ready for a full mary in January. Would like to borrow Don's legs for it though 8).

Work sucks, but I printed off 3x 12 page reports today, so perhapse I am starting to not fall further behind. One more of those babies today and I should be gtg for next week. Oh well, I should probably get back to it.

Does anyone else crave sugar when stressed and needing to write lots of long borring reports? I have been afraid to step on the scale for a week now....

I've got another 5 mile this week and if I keep a consistant 10 miles per week, I should be good.

18.3 miles in the pail for me tonight. Oh my gosh that was long. My legs were all shakey afterwards (longest ever practice run). And man that ice bath was cold, I think I bit a few chunks out of my cheek from my teeth chattering. Mental note grab a washcloth (preferably not still soapy one) before next ice bath to keep between the teeth. I also wimped out and took some IBprophin. We see how I feel tomorrow.

Took it slow and steady hoping to bring it home.

It turns out that it is much easier to tell people you are going to do a full marathon than... actually getting all the way in shape to do one. Who knew?

Catch yall tomorrow, is late here.

Good job! 30K is a long way to run. If you can get in a few slow easy miles today it may help you recover faster.

I managed 12.58 slower easy miles today. I ran a hilly route and just focused on keeping an even steady slower pace. It was still cold and windy, but not too bad. The sun was out and that made it feel a little warmer when the wind was at my back. I need to get another pair of running gloves because the ones I have were still damp from the run yesterday. It should be warmer the next couple days so I hopefully won't need the gloves. But it may snow by next Monday.

Happy running Pumpkins!

3.5 miles today...11.7 miles total...20% into the month, and I'm only at 17% of my goal...

Time to ramp it up this weekend...

Okay, if that is true about the 20%, then I am in good shape, only 100 miles to go!

My "plan" if I can call it such, is pretty simple - run 4-5x/week totaling somewhere between 20 - 25 miles/week. I'm basically in "base-building " mode right now, so most of my runs are at an easy, aerobic pace. I'll throw in some hill work and maybe some "easy" speedwork (not pushing the pace too hard) in the form of tempo or long intervals, but nothing too structured at the moment...

Typical weekly plan:

Speed day (early in the week)
Tempo day (mid-week)
LSD (Saturday)

No plans to run today, but hope to get in my long run tomorrow...in the snow!

My actual workout plans are like this:

___ T W Th F S Su ________ T Th S
Run 4 18 2 6 2 8 _____Bike 15 25 50
Run 5 19 2 6 2 8 _____Bike 15 25 50
Run 6 20 3 6 3 8 _____Bike 15 25 50
Run 5 13 _ 5 2 5 _____Bike 8 ___ 30

For the month. By my math that should get me to my 100 miles... I think. Thanksgiving may nerf 1-3 lite days because of driving 14 hours x 2 days and who knows what Thanksgiving day will involve.

Another 6 miles for me tonight.

I have another 8-10 planned for the weekend and a 50 mile bike, but we have rain forcast for both days... lub weekend rain.

Kinda lowish energy tonight, we see how tomorrow goes. I am upping the miles though, so that is expected. Nothing sore just not a lot of get up and go. I'll just go slow all weekend and should make it to day off on Monday.

I ordered a full set of cold weather gear today.... too bad it wont be here for tomorrow. Windproof/waterproof tights, jacket, gloves, helmet cover and a very warm looking full head cover. If that don't do it, I probably shouldn't be out riding. Was a decent sale.

It is getting way too cold for my runs at 4AM. When I have to start wearing gloves for the morning run it means that it is about time to head for the dreadmill for the next 3 months ...UGH!!!! But despite the cold ran my way for another 5 miles. How is everyone else doing?

Yay 50 mile bike, 2 mile run in, and best of all I beat the rain this weekend (by about 5 minutes). Stamina held after a good night's sleep.

One more run tomorrow and then I get a rest day.... soooo ready for that. I will probably have to go out slow tomorrow, hoping to miss the forcast rain again.

Oh and I helped Santa to order me a full cold weather outft (was a 70 ish percent off sale). Windproof/waterproof jacket, tights, gloves and a helmet cover. Hope to extend my outdoor running/riding. I can do dreadmill for hours, but the trainer is like swimming with an anchor on, it just leaches your speed 1/10th of a mile at a time.
