how's the race report. had a friend do the first or second Cman and they were a little light on the volunteers

I thought there were enough.  As I said, it is much more low key than the usual CTA event (which I've done many).  There were only about 200 or so people on the bike course after the straight swimmers finished their race.  About 300+ people in the swim.

Thanks for the feedback.  I am waiting to see how my HIM goes before I sign up.  It's my third HIM so I don't expect any hangups.  I really just need time to get the $$ together for the entry fee.  I am excited about the low key nature of the event and that is a large appeal for me.  I have found my favorite local runs are the low key ones so I am ready to go it alone on the bike at times.  If this IM goes well, I may try to enter a branded IM but that is a choice for another day.  I still have to figure out lodging for the ChesapeakeMan.  Any ideas where to stay?  The onsite hotel is a bit pricey so I may choose something else.  As we get closer we should all coordiante so we can meet up at the event.  Happy Training everyone/.

I went with the host hotel. l;ess hassle on raceday. the race website lists some other hotels inthe area. thought someone mentioned they close the bridge early don't know if that is a big issue or not but may be something tokeep in mind.

Just finished Musselman 1/2 last weekend.  I took a few days off and am headed back out on the bike tomorrow.  Lotsa work left then 140.6 miles!  Wahoooo.

I'm planning an week down the shore first week of sept - anyone down that week for some long rides/runs?

had my first iron distance dream last night. getting nervous

Does anyone know what the ChasapeakeMan rate is at the Hyatt. I finally took the plunge and signed up for the ultra distance this week and I need accommodations. I know I could probably just call them and they would tell me the rate, but I would have a hard time saying no if they tried to talk me into booking right there on the phone without consulting the Mrs.

This is my first iron distance event.  Anyone else getting worn out from training?  lol  I imagine we all are.

I am seriously getting tired from training and keeping a work schedule!! haha! Any day where I roll out of bed after 6am is a good day!  but just think, two more months, and we're there!

LOL did a race last sunday and this week has been nothing but family crisises (crisisi?) and work stuff. I really want to do this race tomorrow.

actually dreamt about the swim and how fun it was. very weird

I have been doing tris/marathons for over 10 years and HIMs for the past 4 years and I NEVER trained this much.  It is a serious challenge to get it all in this month with work, family & projects around the house(including a new deck I am installing this weekend.  I can't wait to give this one a go in Sept to see what it is like.  What is everyone shooting for as far as finish times?   I am shooting for 11 1/2-12 hours.

I'm in as of 10 minutes ago.

Next paycheck I am in.  Long bike for tomorrow, 4:30 hours and then a short run.  Wahooooooo

I'm just hoping to finish.  After that, I'd like to finish under 13 hours.  And then I'd like to finish under 13hrs, smiling, still being able to walk over to have a beer with friends!!! 
I hope the next 5 weeks goes by somewhat quickly!

primary goal to finish under my own power
secondary: under 15 hrs
secret goal: break 14 hrs

was doing great adn feeling great but work and family stuff killled my last week gotta get back in the saddle and get working out again. going to try for a 4.5 brick tonight. sucks!

I know the feeling.  I was right on target with training and then we decided to build our deck this past weekend.  No workouts for 3 days and I was freaked out.  Calmed myself down and I am back in the saddle again.  It really is quite a grind trying to keep up your training for an Ironman.

only 45 days to go or 6.43 weeks!!!!

I've been 'X'ing the days off my work calendar...and counting days left where I have to get up early for my long run...and now that i saw how long it is in days above--i'm stoked!

In case anyone hasn't seen, the website has the new swim course map. Instead of two loops of the Eagleman course (this year's or last year's), it is two laps completely in Hambrooks Bay. Updated bike course looks a little different as well.

so is this a good thing or a bad thing?
