Okay, looks like we got a nice big group with goals ranging all across the board, cool. So if anyone is way more technoligically advanced than me and wants to put together one of the those cool little lists of all our members so we can copy and paste into our logs, that would be awesome.

So for starters, why doesn't everyone give their first goal or current focus. I know we all listed our "big goals (s)" for the year but what is the first step on the journey for everyone.

I'll start, my first goal is weightloss. I NEED to shed 10 more pounds to get out of the clydesdale division and get movin in the right direction. My races that I am really focusing on won't come til mid summer so I need to get the weightloss fired up to get closer to "race weight"

So what are everyone elses???

I have to lose some serious weight.  But for now I'm kinda focusing on getting out to exercise regularly.  I guess they kinda go together

My main focus right now is swimming.  I am going to the pool today for my first swim in several months and I have no idea how I will do.  The only pool I have access to right now is an outdoor pool so I hope it is not too cold.
I could stand to lose some weight as well, but I will give it some time before I make it priority.

My primary goal is swimming. I am doing drills to attempt to learn a proper front crawl. ( i was one of the kids who always swam with your head above water) So right not my swimming is Fri for lesson, then drills on sat sun mon and wed.

Secondary goal ... and what was my main goal until i signed up for a tri and forced the swim issue..... lose some weight. I would like to lose about 10lbs over the next three months.

davidson3 - 2009-04-20 9:36 PM So...I have a Garmin 205.  Is there a way to get my mile splits out of it once I finish a long run?  I have yet to load the software that came with it.  Do I just have to do my splits manually? Seems like a lot to remember.  I am hopelessly technophobic.  Help.

I have a 305 and i can setup a workout so that each 1km (Canada eh) is a lap. When you download it to the desktop software you will have nice splits all done for you. I think you can setup workouts like that right on the watch but its really easy to do with the software.

My current goal is also WeightLoss - this is something I need to start on now along with Running to get up my endurance.

I have began a 10K running plan that I will transfer to a Half Marathon Plan once I complete this plan.

I guess I gave you some of my goals above, but here's the detailed version:

1) Get my knee back in shape after my marathon this past weekend.
* Focus on strengthening my leg muscles and easing back into running
2) Focus my season on 2 "A" races - an Oly in September and a half-mary in November
* For Oly, need to desperately work on swimming, because I hate swimming
* For half-mary, need to set up a training plan once my knee is good
3) Lose weight - specifically, I want to weigh 135 pounds. Right now, I'm around 150 but I've kind of ballooned up this spring. I've been as low as 142. (And as high as 200+, as Sherm knows.)
* Clean eating is the key for me - I love bad food. And I love wine.

My main goal...running.  Specifically get to a consistant 10min/mile or less.  Do it correctly, without injury and build up distance.  I feel sure my running form sux.  Oh, and eat better. I'm crazy busy, and I use that as an excuse to eat crap.

Main goal is to not miss any significant family events for the sake of training while still bettering all 3 disciplines.

I have not done a Tri yet, so surviving them, particularly the OLY in Chicago, would be a priority.

I would like to stay healthy enough to do a sub 4 hour Marathon in October.

Oh yeah, come up with an easy fix for global warming, end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and feed the world.

Good, looks like some good goals are coming in and some good starting points. We all start somewhere and want to get to somewhere else but we have to determine where exactly we are at and were exactly we want to go.

Keep the goals coming and tomorrow I will come up with our first "group challenge"

My main goal is to finish my first race, while learning and having fun along the way. I'm a complete tri noob so I don't even know what I don't know yet.

That said, my main focus right now is to improve my swimming and biking while maintaining my running. The swim is my weak point by far (at least I know I can't drown on the bike).

My main goals are:

- Keep up with the 6-day/week training plan for London Triathlon on 2nd August
- Swim with wetsuit in the cold River Thames!!
- Train cycling mainly indoors (although I will try to get on the bike whenever I can).

I would like to follow the 16-week 3x balanced plan. We are supposed to follow one of the plans, right?

Thanks!

We will get you to that finish line and don't hesitate to ask any and all questions. I was a complete noob to triathlon less than two years ago and am still learning all the time.

Still sorting through everyone's goals to come up with a good challenge to kick this group off. We seem to be at a few different stages so I want something that will bring us all together and motivate each other to push towards are goals!!

I hope no one minds me asking a question to everyone, but being new to tri's myself I'm wondering... what does everyone wear for the race?  My husband and I started looking at all the different stuff and i thought I found something that would work but it doesn't come in plus sizes (oe anything over 14!).  I need to find something that would work for my size, which is a 20 or 22.

thanks!

Hey, Miranda -

Look in the Athena/Clydesdale thread - there've been a lot of discussions over good tri-wear for non-petite women. When I started, I had a tri suit from Danskin. I'm not sure they make them anymore, but they did have sizes bigger than 14.

So my goal for today is to get over being a huge sloth. I have my gym clothes packed and I will make it to the gym for a little spin on the stationary bike and then (assuming the knee is all good), a venture into knee strengthening. This weekend is supposed to be gorgeous, so I'm looking forward to taking Baby out for a ride...her first time off the trainer this spring.

I am looking to do my last 12 mile run before the riverbank in that 80 degree weather.  Right now I am focused on that race, then turn my attention to TRI training for July and August.

I have been kicking around some plans and time frames.  Do you think the 16 week OLY program from 5/11-8/30 would be adequate if I am doing a SPRINT in there on 7/12?  I have been consistently swimming 25+ min 2x/wk for about 8 weeks, but very little time on my trainer.  It just seems like a 12 mile bike in July will not be too tough of an endeavor, and by 8/30 I will have had plenty of time in the saddle for a 40k bike/10k run.

Also, I have a Road Bike (Giant OCR-C3).  For those 2 TRIs do you think Aero Bars and a forward seat post will make any difference, or is it really an issue for a 70.3 or IM?

Thanks.
