They generally have day-of packet pickup, but get there early to do it. They close down T2 fairly early to get everyone to the beach and setting up T1. Edited by gir1with1nose 2010-06-07 9:35 AM |

Further, a few of us will be back out there at 6:00 this evening, parked near the beach/water slide. Feel free to join. I will check back later in case anyone needs more detail...

Thanks for that, Blake. While the path is is bad need of repair, 3D does have a history of getting out there the day before to clear the path enough for use during the race. Hopefully they also replace that board. |

Regular 78 | Subject: RE: MotorCity Triathlon - Sprint Distance : Official Thread The trail portion of the run is absolutely brutal! There are 6+ trees that have fallen over the path. A few of them are huge and will take a while to remove! Also, in parts, the path is pretty torn up...watch your step. Last, there is a missing board on the little bridge (inside the trail). Easy enough to stride over, but if you are zoned out, this could be an issue. I will drop a courtesy call into 3D today and hopefully the city will provide a bit of help! 3D sent out an email earlier today, and mentioned all the work they needed to do on the run trail. So it sounds like they're on it! |

Veteran 281 | Subject: RE: MotorCity Triathlon - Sprint Distance : Official Thread Trish, You are correct. I rolled it pretty good in the fall of 2008 when you ran over the field. I hit a hole just wrong and rolled my ankle. In true 3D form, they had no one to pick me up and I had to limp back over a mile!!!! Look forward to seeing you Sunday morning. |

You aren't going to do any better than the large parking lot on the Detroit side of the Casino. You'll have to walk the middle of the island from there to the beach and back. That'll put you close to T2 and the finish line for after the event. Since you are jockstrapping, I'd bring a chair. There won't be anything at the beach or the finish to sit on. For photos, if you can get the fountain and the Ren Cen in the same shot its $. edited to add, just stay right coming on the island and then a quick left when you see the fence and the lot on your left. Master 2202 Canton, Michigan | Subject: RE: MotorCity Triathlon - Sprint Distance : Official Thread HaHa, I'm not really sure what the casino is. Looking at the satellite view on Yahoo or Google, is that the lot off of Casino Way between Central Ave and Fountain Ave? I'm more nervous about getting my racer there and being a good sherpa then if I was actually racing. |

New user 11 | Subject: RE: MotorCity Triathlon - Sprint Distance : Official Thread I am doing the sprint, this will be my first one I am going down on Sat to listen to the 101 since I have no idea what to expect. Does any one have any idea if the course will be open the day before, after the kids are finished? I would like to get a look and see where it will be, take my bike and take a ride to look around. But I don't want to haul it down if I can't do it? May just have to walk. Hope you all have a great race. |

I was looking over a few things for the weekend yesterday and got butterflies not for myself, but planing out what I need to set up for Tess to race on Saturday. As you make your way on to the island, there will be a large flower clock where you have to go right and then you are correct, a left on Casino Way. That large lot you see is where you'll park. I don't see Fountain on the map, but you can't miss it (just stay to the left of the one way when you come on the island. If this is clear as mud, let me know & I'll PM you a cell #. It'd be much easier to explain by phone. Nicole, the island is yours all day Saturday and you should do packet pick up then versus waiting until Sunday. I'll be down there watching my daughter compete in the kids event. Seek out an overly proud, short bald dad watching his daughter if you'd like to hit me up with race questions. Oh, and Rottie, what Trish said! Edited by AeroBaldness 2010-06-10 4:42 PM |
