D001 - 2009-07-28 10:13 PM TinkerBeth has been missing for too long. I vote we do a NIBBS ROAD TRIP, and go get her. Wait... She's in MN this week. Eh, it's OK. They should be having their 4 days of summer right about now.

I'm in Wisconsin and I'll be in Minnesota this weekend.  Maybe I'll go find her.

Cool. You can borrow a few of my tasers.

Then again, maybe you should just take the cattle prod.

Spokes - 2009-07-29 9:35 AM Mel - thanks. Yesterday, she got mapped in preparation to start zapping on Monday. She's also starting chemo - 1 4 hour session 1x a week for the next four months. I suspect they're going to do the same thing with the radiation for a while too.

Really, this is the beginning of the end with Stage IV - she's 73, will be 74 in October - however, people at her age live for years with Stage IV cancers, even in the lung. So really, its not an issue of beginning or end, its how long the middle will be.
  I like that thought....

Make the most out of it, Spokesy.  I never had that chance.

I hear you. But given her family history with the women vs. cancer, I'm going to be surprised if she makes it all the way through four months of treatment.

Scott, be supportive of her and her decisions.  Don't let her know that you don't think she will make it.  Let her surprise you.  I think one of the main things that kept me going through my treatment was all the positive caring attitudes around me.  Helped kept me from getting down.  Take her to go and get a great wig.  If there is an ACS office nearby they have a look good feel good program that helps women pretty themselves up when they are going through cancer and have lost their hair.  Look for a support group for yourself.  And last of all, show Mom your love.

Spokes - 2009-07-29 1:49 PM I think I'm done with TAN for a while. Its just gotten way too self-centered (not everyone in there) and stupid silly for my taste. People used to discuss their daily lives and now its become like junior high. I've got enough personal issues to fill a 55 gallon drum and I just don't have time for that crap anymore. Its too negative.

Well, we sometimes act like Jr. High also, just the positive side of it.

What kind did he get?  I ditched the clunker yesterday in favor of a Jeep Patriot...
