Ok, so I have a NEW plan...

There is this crazy kid who calls himself 'wonderboy' over on the P90x thread in the 'tri-ing for weightloss' forum.  He combine the P90x program and the 'trinewbies' HIM training plan and got impressive results.

Any one up for that??

If I stay self coached I will likely combine a plan from here with the endurance nation plan I used this year ( well for Timberman also kind of combined).

still have 4 races this season (including MiamiMan - signed up last week for the Oly though there is a small chance I will change to the HIM)

have not yet thought about next season other than signing up for this!!!

Hi everyone, i'm also recently signed up. This will be my third HIM, but first one in the Florida heat. I'm coming back after 1 year break from training, due to move across the country, starting new job and having a new baby. My dream is 6hr or less, but in reality I will be happy with a finish.

All I have on my bike right now is one cage on the downtube. I'm thinking about getting an aero bottle, but my computer is right in between my aerobars. Any suggestions on how to get around that or should I get behind the seat post cages? What do most people do for hydration?

I mounted the computer on the bike stem. No problem if it is wireless. This allows room for the bottle between your bars.

its wired. but can it still work? I haven't seen one mounted on a stem before and what it actually looks like and if you need another attachment to make it work

Yes. You will need a mounting strap. Visit your local bike shop and they will help. It is a good value for the dollar.

Hey all.  Greetings from Colorado.

I've never done the HIM distance.  Used to spend my summer vacations as a kid in Florida.  It's been since circa 1989 since I was there last.  Lots has changed since then.  For some reason, I feel like I just need to go to Florida.  So, I'm in!

I come from an XTERRA background in tri. (originally a cyclist)  The HIM will absolutely be an "A" race which will hopefully set me in the right direction to try and make it to XTERRA Nats... well... maybe one day.   Lookin' forward to the next 9 months.  End of 09 season is in 2 weeks.  I plan on taking a month in a half or so off, and then getting back into the swing.

Cheers!

Hey Erin.

XTERRA's are fun.  The XTERRA organization is fantastic, and puts on excellent events.  Of course out here, it usually means lots of climbing on the bike and run, but as always..."it's more fun in the dirt."

The XTERRA croud is kinda than the road tri group.  Super mellow before and after, but can be pretty hard core on the course.  Especially when there is nowhere to pass.  Good times!

Funny that I was not thinking about how warm it's gonna be.  Looks like I'll have to do some spring training with some extra clothes or somethin'.

  Lookin forwad to it.

Chat with ya soon.

Cheers.

Hey all.  Quick question about the run.  I've see an few reports where people were less than thrilled about the run.  Something about grass, dirt, etc...

Any tips on the problems or concerns?  From an XTERRA persons point of view..SWEET!

A detailed description if you have time would be awesome.

Thanks in advance for the info.

I would do an exterra before I will do this run again.  Atleast you expect trails on an extera and there are multiple lines you can run.  There you have a service trail that is filled with holes and have many people walking 2 to 4 wide using it as a social event.  Doing 3 laps does not help as you know what is coming forward.  The swim and bike are awsome its just that damn run. lol  Good luck

The run....?? oh you mean the 13.1 mile safari through the Disney African Grasslands??Here are the two best pieces of advice I got about the run for last year (credit to Cube) 1) Wear old shoes, because they won't be worth saving once you are done, they will be in post XTERRA condition and 2) save your sponge - they have sponges soaked in ice water at the aid stations, but they will run out by the second loop so save your first sponge by tucking it into your suit somewhere and re-use it. Despite all of the complaining..the run was hard and hot but, as one of the quotes from this site says "It's an Ironman, it's supposed to be hard"

erinmac - 2009-08-19 12:45 PM i was trying not to scare the new guy.

awww, cmon Erin.  It's perfectly ok to scare the new guy.

One of the many XTERRA qoutes is "...there's no whining in XTERRAS..."

Race days have been uber hot, snow storms in the am, wind, rain, 55 degree 1 mile ow swims in dark brown lakes.

The more I picture a trail run the happier I get.  At this point, the heat is what worries me the most.  It is highly unlikely I'll get to train in anyhing that resembles heat and humidity.

***So, who's in for the preveribial pre swim, ride, or run beofre the race? ***

I think we will get their sometime on Wed afternoon.

By the way... much thanks about the sponge advice.  I'm gonna need it. Can someone post that as a permanent advice sticky so I don't forget?.

I am hoping Disney comes back out with their 7 for 4 deal since we will be in Disney for the week prior and the week after this event.  I really want to stay in one of the cabins at Fort Wilderness....how cool would that be?  Family would be right there to watch and be able to go back to cabin while waiting for my slow butt to bike and run lol!!!

The good thing about this HIM is that the swim is 'easy' (note my screen name). But seriously, it is Mickey Mouse's lake, warm, small, inland, fresh water...I don't have an arrival plan yet, but I probably won't get there until Friday. There is a place called 'Lucky's Lake' that has an OWS that seems like it is sort of an event in itself. (Erinmac did you do that last year?) I'd like to do it this year if I get down there in time. Besides a possible OWS Friday pm or Sat am, I don't plan to do a bike/run. I like a complete day off before the race.
