sparco - 2009-08-03 10:31 AM Oh yeah...and I still owe Kendra (yoganerd) a picture of me in a kilt, Wendy's wig and painted toenails...shhh...

Oh, that's right...Kendra's on our team, isn't she?

I'm not so sure I want to know about this.....

Bah - I lead a really boring life so I want all the details!

Slugger - 2009-08-03 12:58 AM Um, I'm Slugger, and I've never done a IM or an HIM OR an Oly - but Neal and Pam are awfully nice people anyway! (congrats to both of you on your races, btw)

Lessee, my goals are to run some and bike some (hopefully split between both rides) and log my food. Logging food is a serious challenge because I work nights and I have never been able to figure out which day to put which food on. But, I am starting a new "diet" plan (a lot like the training plans, actually!), so I'm hoping that gives the structure I need.

Oh, and I ramble. A lot. Especially in my blog. But I never, ever post pad.

My fiancee used to work nights as a nurse and she would just think of the period she was up as a day, instead of using a specific time period.  In essence, she rolled the evening of the day before into the next day, for calorie counting purposes.  I don't know if I could have done it that way but it worked for her.

ilucy2 - 2009-08-03 9:09 AM Hi everyone! I am Kendra and I love to run. After breaking my leg while running 02-08 and being screwed back together, I was told I would never run again, let alone compete. After a long recovery I am back, and training for a half marathon in Sept. (I love to prove people wrong). My training is now off due to bad calf pain and a shin splint, but it is better. I may have to just do the 10k and be happy. My goals are running, bike, and strength. I am not a chatty cathy but I will try to keep up.

Congrats on the long road back!  It must really feel wonderful to have proved people wrong and be back doing what you love to do.  I played team sports growing up so running was either for conditioning or for punishment so I don't quite love it yet but I am trying to!

gilmurray - 2009-08-03 8:10 AM Hi, I'm Maria. I'm trying to get back in shape after having baby #3. She's 6 months old so it's time to get moving. I'm currently doing boot camp in the morning and would like to start running and riding in the afternoons. I'm eyeing a half-mary for the fall, but it most likely won't happen until January/February. I think that's it for now. I just need some serious motivation.

I'm sure it's hard to get out and exercise with 3 kids!  I can't imagine!  One is challenging enough!

Hi Everyone!  I got added to this team late.  My name is Tracy.  My only goal this month is to run 30 miles.  (Of course, I have other unstated goals but this is the one I'm really working towards.)  I have a 3 1/2 month old baby boy.  I've been doing the tri thing for 4 years.  I did my first post-baby tri 2 weeks ago.  Unfortunately, my front tire blew on the ride so I had to take a big, fat DNF.  That sucked!  I'll try to redeem myself at another sprint tri in a couple weeks.  I can't wait to get to know you guys!  I know I've been on some challenge teams with a couple of you.  Nice to see you guys again!  Cheers!

Bummer on the flat tire   At least you have another race to look forward to!

Sulcus - 2009-08-03 1:28 PM Hiya everyone!  I'm Shawn and I pulled myself out of the well formed dents in my couch to begin the tri lifestyle back in March.  After doing two mini-sprints in the past month, I've got three sprint races coming up this fall so I am going to use this August challenge to really get my swimming, biking and running ready for them.  In addition, I have the abdominal strength of jello so doing core exercises is going to be my fourth goal.

Since the only person I recognize is Slugger from her time being chased around with a taser by Dee during their running challenge, I look forward to getting to know you all!

Congrats on making the change, Shawn!

Hi--I'm another late entry.  I'll work some numbers later tonight with goals.

My name is Geoff.  I have five kids and a wife.  Similar to others this is my third season (I think) coming off of 15 years on the couch.  I just completed an aquabike and a 70.3 within the last couple of weeks.  I'm on to my first IM later this year--but I won't bother you guys with the details.    Let's just say one word.  KONA!!!  Thank god for the lottery.  It will be the world's greatest athletes and me.

I have completed my base training and have started my race prep portion of the season. My volume is going to kick up and I need to hold strong and injury free--so you guys need to hold me accountable.  I will probably make my fourth event to be a combo between flexibility, strength/yoga and PT/massage sessions.

Yeah, but it's a pool swim.  But it's a tri none-the-less.  My new tires should be ready to roll!

I have 1 of each in (30 bike and strength yesterday, run this morning). Nothing spectacular since I am not pushing hard the first I get back at it.

BTW - Who has a name for the team?

LOL!  I thought it was "Team 3"  I am totally NOT creative, so no options here.

We've got a really great team here.  I'm so happy I joined into the challenge.  Sometimes its easy to get caught up in your own little corner of BT and forget that there are a whole lot of people here sharing the same goals, interests, and struggles.  Not always easy to find someone who understands that in the real world.

BTW,
Slugger, you ain't seen rambling till you been to my blog!  LOL!

Usually the names are creatively changed from Team X to something else. We don't have to change - just thought I would throw it out there.

I had to work late today so I had to drop one scheduled workout.  I decided to run in favor of swimming.  Marathon training sort of influenced that decision

No worries though.  I was just checking my calendar and there is plenty of time to make up that swim this month.

1 run and 1 workout in so far. Today is a scheduled day off but I had the urge to ride my bike this morning. Had a low tire. Had a fight with the tire pump - it won, so I went to work. I get to run in the morning!! Yippie it will be a good day just because of that.

Howdy howdy!

Eh, too distracted to go back and do actual quotes (can you tell I haven't eaten yet tonight? )...

Nutrition on nights - yeah, but do you roll the evening into the next day, or the night into the previous evening? That's what gets me. See, I train in the evening, so I like to log my training on the actual day I do it. And the nutrition should go with the training, so it goes on the night before. But, um, then I don't know what to do on the weekends...and, well, I'm easily confuzzled.

KONA??? dOOd!!! Freakin' AWESOME!

Gratz to so many people here on races, coming up and in the books. Serious bummer on the flat, but I guess it has to happen eventually, and you got it out of the way early, right?

Robert, what? Me? Post pad? Never! Hee hee...

Looking forward to checking out everyone's logs as I get a chance. Just thought I might want to comment on mine - I am going through getting diagnosed with MS right now, so my log has a lot of navel-gazing. I just had a pretty rough doc visit last Friday, so still dealing with that. Feel free to ignore all of that garbage, I mostly just post it to get it out of my head.

And speaking of (both logs and MS) I had a good solid run today! Was fighting leg fatigue hard, almost bagged it, but the day was WAY too beautiful to turn down. Haven't had a run since before my backpack, so it was time. Did the first part good and hard, then the run back was an exercise in keeping my HR down. Fun to play with.

Note: this post is evidence I don't post pad. This could EASILY have taken up two pages! Wait, on second thought, where's the edit button.... Cool

Ok--my goals are out there:

27 hours biking, 12 hours running, 8 hours swimming + 15 sessions of stretching/strength.  I need at least 8 sessions (2 per week) for strength training.
