Hey all...my name's Walt. Did my first Ironman this year, then thought I took enough time off before starting training for NYC Marathon, but the legs just never really cooperated, plus my motivation has been nil. Finally I determined I need some rest, so after a couple weeks off, I'm getting back with the running. NYC is still a remote possibility...very remote. I've done it a few times before, so it wouldn't be any special deal. If the legs don't hold up, I've decided I'll use the time to do other stuff - swim/eliptical/bike/etc. - so my goal will be in minutes. I know, I know, it's a "running" challenge but I need the motivation to do SOMETHING!

I get the distinct feeling I am under-teched for the group...  No Garmin and my latest HR monitor went kaput...  I just quit using the tech and go run and bike now...  Running has gotten better on the low tech approach - biking - not so much...

I am impressed by you marathon type people - I signed up for  a half and it sure seems like it is going to be a long 13 miles...

I see a lot of familiar faces on this team - and some folks who are new to me as well!

Off for what I hope will be a double digit run in the rain. Depending how this goes will determine whether I run the Half Marathon in Central Park next week.

I especially love the fact that you can put it on vibrate instead of beeping

So you like the 310?? I am thinking of getting it, have never had a Garmin, and  worry that it is too big to fit on my wrist!

While drinking Cosmos and posting on the December 08 Vixen thread I committed to running my first half marathon- it was definitely the vodka talking but I did it any way.  I am planning to run that half again in late February and want to train well.  I hope to lower my time and avoid the ITB issue that cropped up last year at the 10 mile mark.

I also did my first tri in 5 years this summer.  The cranberry oly in Lakeville MA.   I am thinking of going for a HIM in 2010.  That will depend on how my running goes.
