i got lost there for a minute...
but i found my VILLAGE.
morning GHOULIES.
man did i sleep like a ROCK last night.
wonder why? teee heeee.
a glass of wine, and pot full of foundue....got home and CRASHED.
had the best afternoon w my OHIO BRETHREN...
i love taking people to PRIMANTI BROS for the first time and watching them
(attempt to
) eat their sammiches.
hysetrical.
they're made on this thick, fresh Italian bread with fries piled high and slaw too...then whatever meat that suits your fancy.
if you want to be TRUE Picks-burgher, you add in a fried egg.... BOOYAH.
after lunch we went to one the PGH TRI CLUB members house for....you guessed it MORE FOOD....chili and asundry side dishes.
i took pretzels from the PRETZEL FACTORY...do any of you have them in your town?
i had two pretzel sticks, and when i went back for more, they were GONE!!!!
man those TRIATHLETES sure can pound down the pretzels!!!!
since we had a FREE babysitter aka my mother in law, my friends, DH and i split the PTC party early, and headed down to Station Square a must go to place if your ever in the Burgh.
we went to the MELTING POT - a foundue place - oh yummmy!
finished the day off with BANANAS FOSTER AND MILK CHOCOLATE FONDUE, complete w a plate of dippables - strawberries, bananas, mini rice krispies treats, cheesecake, Oreo and Graham cracker encrusted marshmallows, et al.
and i had nice glass of White Zinfandel.
OH. SO. YUMMY.
we picked up the kids. took my friends back to the hotel.
i told my husband, as i barely could walk up the stairs just from pure EXHAUSTION, im heading straight to bed.
crawled in. my head hit the pillow. i dont even remember my kids coming in to say goodnight
(they said they did
)
SUCH exhaustion, yet SUCH a sense of SATISFACTION TOO.
this has been AN AMAZING first TRI SEASON. ive accomplished SO MUCH this year. 150&60 mile bike rides, a mini sprint, two full sprints, throw in a couple 5ks and 10ks, along with a PB 1/2 MARY.
i couldnt ask for anything better.
but ABOVE AND BEYOND THAT....ive connected to a OUTSTANDING community of people here on BT.
and i seriously doubt.....no, i KNOW I DOUBT i would have accomplished all that ive accomplished in my TRI SEASON if i wasnt for the support and encouragement of the BT COMMUNITY.
the PGH TRI CLUB came late in the season, so its all my BTLAND BRETHREN that helped me through, answered all my tri newbie questions, hooked me up w a really schweet bike, encouraged me, supported me and spurred me on.
in regards to this 1/2 MARY, when it was looking like the original goal of a sub 2 wasnt gonna happen, in the past, i would have just been 'satisfied' to go and finish the race.
but you ALL helped me to
CONTINUE TO BELIEVE that i could do better than i expected at this race.
a sub 2 would have been totally schweet, BUT to know that i went into that race, still willing to fight and press and work and dedicate myself to running my best race and to do THAT with the support of the BEST TEAM ON BT, theres nothing like that feeling.
EVERY FOOT FALL I MADE FROM MILES 10.5 on was a 'fight' but it was the thought of all of you, of the 'good times' we've been sharing here on BT, all the words that have been spoken
(funny and serious
) and the ways that you've EACH inspired ME to do just a little bit extra....THATs what got me to the finish line! EACH. AND. EVERY. ONE. OF. YOU.
i mean this sincerely. this accomplishment at this race, was just as much YOURS as it was MINE. it goes to the POWER of community
(even online ones
)
never doubt for one minute that the support and encouragement you show to one of your TRI FRIENDS makes a HUGE IMPACT on their lives, for the better.
im living proof of that.
my race result is living proof of that.
now i can wrap up the 2009-2010 season with SUCH a sense of accomplishment, knowing that im connected to an AWESOME group of GHOULIES.
HERES TO ANOTHER MONTH, GHOULIES of spurring on another, to do more than we ever thought possible!
ON WITH THE CHALLENGE!
