Man it sucks to be rebuilding run fitness. Oh well, I guess we can't stay fully fit indefinately. I know what you mean. I'm getting back into things after taking 2 years off. It's amazing how much an extra 45 pounds will slow you down! Just put your head down and get in those miles. You'll hit the sweet spot again before you know it. |

I am at the point in my training where I need to take it easy. Faster paces are feeling tough and I haven't taken any breaks. So that's likely the issue. But you'll be rocking that January marathon! |

Master 4119 Toronto | Subject: RE: Team 4 - November You-Pick-It Challenge So, i haven't had any feedback on the name "Team Fall-dippides" Based on that I am going to let D001 know and we'll update the name. Seems everyone is doing well with the challenge so far! Yesterday i went for a 13k run and did a 50-minute spin on the trainer. |

Want to get home in time to watch the NYC Marathon on Universal Sports. BTW I think a Thanksgiving of Fall themed name would be great as well. Did you get a chance to watch NYC! What a finish. It was great to see Meb take it and I couldn't believe the woman's race. The 41 year Russian woman looked like she was going to die at any moment over the last few miles. I was so surprised to see her lead the charge to drop Paula. What a crazy running gait she has. Oh and the best quote of the race paraphrased. "I'm not sure why she is falling back. The last mile was a pedestrian 5:50". Right... 5:50 miles is pedestrian. It was a great finish! Meb is one cool character! I am happy he won... and the women's race was pretty exciting too. Too bad for Paula but it was clear she was having some issues through most of the race. I'm not sure I could 5:50 in a 50 yard sprint! |

Expert 1074 Madison, MS | Subject: RE: Team 4 - November You-Pick-It Challenge blujay65 - 2009-11-01 6:08 AM Greetings Folks! Jen here, from southern Mississippi. This is our best time of the year for training. I am currently a few weeks into a 20 week training plan for my first marathon on February 28th. My goal will be 50 miles running. I find I don't really need the challenges to actually to motivate me, but I really like the camaraderie that comes from them and that helps to keep me going! I am only a runner for a year and a half and doing tri's for about 10 months now. I have always been active, boating (and rock climbing years ago) biking, hiking, etc., but as I am getting older I find I need too do more to get fit and help keep my sanity. Happy to be working with you all--- especially Karen! Cool! It's great to be on a challenge team with you once again, Jen! We Mississipians (transplants or otherwise) need to stick together! |

Expert 1074 Madison, MS | Subject: RE: Team 4 - November You-Pick-It Challenge brick94513 - 2009-11-01 1:08 PM Alright, its time to do some work! My goals for the challenge were 80 miles running-25,000 yds in the pool. So, my week is going to look something like this: Yep. In fact, this is my last week of cycling for the next couple of months. It will be all running all the time as the marathon approaches. But, to be a better runner, you gotta' run more. Once we get to January, I'll ease back into the triathlon mode by starting with some swim-focused training. Nice break for the legs and a focus on my weakest link. I think it's all about cycling through the season in such a way as to not only reach your goals but stay healthy as well. |

Expert 1074 Madison, MS | Subject: RE: Team 4 - November You-Pick-It Challenge Happy Monday, everyone! (I can be happy on Moday because I get to go on vacation starting Friday. First stop IMFL to volunteer, then some hang time at PCB, side trip to Jupiter, FL, before heading back to the Magnolia state 10 days later.) I have become a challenge junkie in the last year, and am so glad to be on the team. I'm a lifelong athlete and have been running for...well, a very long time. Came to triathlons almost exactly 5 years ago. Been on BT a couple of years now. I keep my training logs on another site too for my coach, but I like BT's site much, much better for all the features and, especially, the interaction. Anyway, this month starts my focus on training for a marathon at the beginning of January. I kicked it off with a 14.83 mile-run (gotta' love Garmin with the exact mileage) yesterday in beautiful southern-style autumn weather. I have set my goal high for me: 125 miles for the month. As long as my heel behaves, it should be no problem. I am having a little challenge with a minor plantar fasciitis in my right foot. So far, it hasn't kept me from running. Let's hope it stays that way. |

Was thinking about our team name and Van paulus suggested "Team Phidippides" and i thought of a variation, it's cheesy, yes, but what's about "Team Fall-dippides" - for the time of year and such?
I like it Now lets run (or challenge ) our hearts OUt !! |

Wow, sorry to hear about this, especially with a big running month planned. My wife dealt with this for a while. It was really hard to watch since she was trying to get ready for the Nike Woman's Half Marathon. We had to pretty much substitute cycling and stop her running until she felt better. Sorry, didn't mean to be a downer, just acknowledging your pain. Looks like we have a great group! |

Expert 1104 Canada | Subject: RE: Team 4 - November You-Pick-It Challenge My daily check-in. I had an easy or rest day. Off work a little early & did 20 mins, hills, on bike & 20 minute tempo on dreadmill. Tomorrow night is swim again. I have not swam since I had a bad experience at 8 yo. Been in pool & "beginner classes" since Sept. Things seem to be progressing, but I have no reference point. My 6 year old son tells me I do a good starfish. My 9 year old daughter usually disses me . Anyway, finally got out of the water last week & took a good breath. A monumental achievement for me. A long way from swimming in open water but something for me to work at until spring. Jen, looks like your are our captain, as no one else has stepped up. Congratulations! Team name is fine with me. All others, keep going. It's all about achieving the monthly goal & not leaving anyone behind!!!! GGG |

My name is Luc and I have been doing triathlon on and off for many years. However, 2009 was the first year where I actually followed training plans. Big difference. I did many PRs this season....sprint distance, olympic, half marathon, first HIM and first marathon. It was a busy year.... Will focus on core strenght and biking during November and December (but still running and swimming). Will focus on running in Jan-Feb for a marathon in May. |
