Subject: RE: Creative ideas to wrap presents???I used to use sunday comics that I collected over the year. I did this for two reasons (and one is not b/c I am cheap ) 1 ) I am recycling - the newspaper is having a second use and 2 ) I am not a fan of "saving the paper" I believe that presents should be ripped open like a 4 year old. So w/ my presents you get to have fun. But for the past 7 or 8 years, I have been using calendars. It takes a lot more work b/c sometimes you have to use 2 or 3 calendars to cover the box. But its fun figuring out which pictures to use, how to fold and make the calendar fit the box area for the right emphasis and how that picture would be good for that person that I am giving it to. For example, my mother and aunts are all horse people so I will use horse calendars for them. Most calendars will have snow or other festive pictures that make for great wrapping. The Marthas Vineyard Calendar by Peter Simon, Snowboarding, Simpsons and golf calendars are the ones I'll be using this year. Because of the effort and picking each picture for each present, the wrapping becomes so personal that I do not need to put labels on them. I accent each w/ a bow too. I will start my wrapping tonight or tomorrow so I will post some pics when I get a few. |
