Elite 4372 Connecticut | Subject: RE: EAST - March Winds Challenge I'm hungry. I know, nothing new there. But today is day 1 of my diet. I have gained around 8 pounds since December and it is time for them to leave. But, I'm starving! No pain, no gain, right? I've done really well eating today. Small victory! |

Expert 932 Madison | Subject: RE: EAST - March Winds Challenge Hi Team - I'm Tracy and Wisconsin is East of the Mississippi, so I'm joining you all! I haven't decided on goals yet - but my first half Ironman is in July and training officially started today (YIKES!). I need to keep the goals in check though because I will be gone for over a week this month with no time to train. Happy to see lots of familiar faces! |

Master 2146 East Side of the Bay | Subject: RE: EAST - March Winds Challenge Hello fellow Easterners! I've been waffling about joining a challenge team this month but I need it to keep me honest in following a plan. I see from the posts a lot of you are doing an HIM and since I am planning my first in late June I can look to you for advice. I will set up some goals on the spread sheet. |

Master 2146 East Side of the Bay | Subject: RE: EAST - March Winds Challenge Oh yes introductions: I'm Kathy, native of Amherst Mass, but spend grad/professional school and 13 winters in Minnesota, (on both sides of the Mississippi) and have now lived in RI for the past 17 years. So I count myself as an Easternah and yes those numbers add up to a "Master" athlete as I am almost 52. I've got one daughter in college and a 17 yo who is a junior in HS. This is my second season back doing tris after taking 5 years off. I would describe my athletic ability as a younger person as never picked first for a team but never picked last. It has been fun to challenge myself with new distances and sports. Nice to see some familiar and some new faces! |

I'm in the EXACT same boat as you! I purposely brought no money with me today so I couldn't cheat at the vending machine. I'm toying with the idea of a weight loss goal too to keep myself away from that stupid machine. |

I'm in the same boat as you guys. I gained about 8 lbs after tri season ended, then another 7 over the holidays I've already lost the Holiday weight gain, but would like to get back to my last season's race weight before it warms up. . . Unfortunately, this is my month of mammoth long runs for marathon training, so I don't want to cut calories right now! So my off-the-record March goal is to eat cleanly to fuel my training and cut back on the junk (aka booze & fries!) Hopefully if I do that, the weight will just come off! |

Master 1817 Lafayette, IN | Subject: RE: EAST - March Winds Challenge Hey, Easties! I'm Emily. I've seen lots of you around the challenge forum before - looking forward to having y'all on my team! My 12-week Oly plan started today. I'm hoping this challenge will provide me with the motivation to keep up with my swim training. I'm also going to try and hit another 100-mile running month. Good luck to everyone! Let's show those westerners how it's done! |

Master 2429 Falls Church, Virginia | Subject: RE: EAST - March Winds Challenge Hey team! I got a swim in this morning and just got off the trainer. Interesting note. I worked out more today than I did the entire week of last months epic snowstorm. I'm usually a fan of winter weather, but I'm done for this year. Don't want to see another snowflake. |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: EAST - March Winds Challenge Atlantia - 2010-03-01 11:01 AM I work with dogs, I love sweets, and sometimes I get cranky. Then I eat sweets and pet my dog and I feel better. I don't work with dogs. Maybe that's why I'm cranky all the time. I just finished eating some chocolate chip cookies though. So maybe I'll feel a little less cranky soon. I'd pet the dog, but he's sleeping. And you know what they say about sleeping dogs. (If I wake him up, I'll have to throw the ball for him.) I've found the best cure for crankiness if tasing challenge teammates who aren't meeting their challenge goals. (cattle prod.jpg) Attachments ---------------- cattle prod.jpg (83KB - 10 downloads) |

You may not want to watch the Weather Channel, or look out your window tomorrow........ They're predicting a bunch of snow here, and once it's finished in this area, it usually heads north..... |

Member 39 Groton, CT | Subject: RE: EAST - March Winds Challenge Can I join the East team? I'm currently in Connecticut which puts me squarely on the East Coast. I've had a super busy January and February ( I teach at a university) and crew season started up this month ( I coach) which means if I'm going to get ready for my HIM in August, I'm going to need some serious motivation and butt kicking. Plus I've participated in 2 challenges, but haven't been able to meet my goals (due to various reasons), and I REALLY want to do it this month. |

It's the WEST team that has the team links table and a potential new name. The EAST team is the one that I'm on. And we DON"T have a team links table or a name. Elite 4372 Connecticut | Subject: RE: EAST - March Winds Challenge I feel trapped this week. I have to stay close to town in order to take Cole his inhaler and antibiotic at school @ 11:45 every day this week. What a pain in the arse. Smack in the middle of the day. If I didn't have to do so, I would head down to Groton and swim and do some grocery shopping. Maybe lunch with the girls. Bah. Instead, I'll scrub some floors, run and maybe bike. Perhaps I'll check out the pool in Plainfield, it's only 15 minutes from here. I really need to get there and see if I still know how to swim. |
