Okay Captain Lynda the Lovely, here are my goals (accounting for the 2 weeks I'm in Africa and not training.) I know it's a tiny goal, but set according to my absense and training plan. Veteran 293 The Emerald City | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge What a team we have!!!I also prefer not to log training by minutes, but if I have too, then I will. BTW, I log my swim in yards, Bike and Run by miles.I have a sprint tri (my first ) on 07/09, so this will be a slow week in order to taper.I'm not a great smack-er, but I will do my best to harrass the other teams. What are our team colors? |

Elite Veteran 781 | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge Kepola, sweetie, you mentioned our colors? That means that you get to pick them. I'm sure that whatever you decide will work great with our skin tones. And only express your goals in the units you train. If you train with miles/kilometers, fine. If you train with minutes, fine. We're sooo mopping up the competition that we don't need to worry ourselves with details. Renee assured me. What a great team we have; I'm very excited. Hoff and vapor trail, I don't know much about you, so please share. We can only talk real smack if we have some basis in fact. And it sounds like our next team race is Kepola's. Time to cheer her on. |

Lynda - sorry, but your smack talk will need som help. In fact, I'm sure that Kim could out-smack-talk Team Dingaling, or whatever your team name is, without my assistance. And yes, I DO put as much effort into my training as I do my smack-talk... You might want to choose pink for your team color. Edited by joeinco 2005-07-01 10:15 PM |

Veteran 221 | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge Alright. I don't have any tri's this month. But I have 2 sort of races. They are these races that the NY state parks put on each monday for 8 weeks. I try to look at them as up tempo training runs. But you know how it is. you show up. there is over a 1000 people there and you just have to show off and see what happens. The last 3 I have logged as races. So I guess I will use them as races. I'm pumped for this month now. Tomorrow here I come!!!!!!!!!!! Whoooo |

Master 1315 Shreveport, LA | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge Saw Capt. Lynda this morning. She went for a run and bike. I went for my first OW swim and biked the River Cities course. I met two nice people from the Sunrise Tri Club who swam with me and showed me the bike course. I will log my times later. Good training everyone. |

Veteran 293 The Emerald City | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge In the movie "The Endless Summer" (see my avatar) the surfers were on a quest for the perfect wave. Team Endless Summer is like those surfers, but instead of the perfect wave, we are on a quest for the perfect goal attainment! 100% (insert loud cheering here) Go Team Endless Summer! |

Elite Veteran 781 | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge We have a great team! I love the blue and gold colors; works perfect with my blue eyes and golden skin tone (okay that made even me gag). *Note to self--work on shameless self promotion* And I WANT our cheerleader to be shaking her blue and gold pom-poms at each and every opportunity! She is awesome. And remember, her next tri happens this next Saturday so we'll be shaking our pom poms for her as well. CindyK and Vapor, when you get your July goals figured out, please post them. Don't forget to include your races so we can cheer you on, as well. Tania, you're doing a really interesting race at the end of the month. If you get a chance (once you get off of the bike), could you share with your team what you'll be doing? Last, I'd like your thoughts with respect to scoring the challenge. My thoughts are that we keep it simple; you either make or don't make your goal in each of the three legs. A perfect team score would be 24 (8 team membersX3 events). Pretty binary. You make or you don't. Some of the other team captains have suggested averaging the percent of goal made. mnewton is our engineer (and great seeing you this morning--hope you had a good ride) so perhaps he has a more scientific method, but I'mhappy to advocate whatever the group has in mind. Cavu's objection to my proposal is that we all might win, and I don't have a problem with that, but if you all want to make it more cut-throat, I'll advocate that as well. Just let me know. I'll fight for you either way you want to play it. Just post or PM anything else you think I should be doing for Team Endless Summer. Enjoy our sport, team! Edited to add (if you've made it this far), we have a rubber duck giving us ap-cray? A rubber duck? Whatever. Tania, do whatever you need to. Edited by lynda 2005-07-02 9:27 PM |

Hoping to get my goals posted tomorrow...(my goal is to post my goals haha). I'm tapering for a 1/2 IM on July 24 which complicates things a little for me. Yesterday was a 7.7 mile interval run tho, and today was a 68.7 mile ride with my bike club (see my log for my ATTEMPTED SWIM!). As far as scoring, I like the "you make your goal or you don't" theory. That forces us all to do the 3 sports as we see necessary for our training plans...ie no fear of me riding more than swimming just because I like to ride (and don't care to swim ) |

Elite Veteran 781 | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge Oh my. We have both a ride across Iowa and a half IM on our team this month? (Not counting Mandi's Africa trip) Folks, we're busy. We're either working or we're shaking our poms. This can't get any better unless Vapor cops to an IM. Kepola's tri is next Saturday; Who's next? hoff? |

Elite 2468 Racine, WI | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge Ok TEAM ENDLESS SUMMER, my apologies for taking so long. The holiday has me busy (not training unfortunatley). If these numbers look low, well they are. I'm being VERY careful to give myself a good taper because I've been training so hard I'm feeling burnt out. Especially after all of last months miles LOL! The challenge for me this month will be not to overdo it. Monthly totals: Let the |

Elite Veteran 781 | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge Busy weekend, and tomorow I won't be around much. CindyK, I have your goals logged and just keep track of them however you normally track them. I'm so excited that you're on our team; half IMs aren't common around here and you have much to teach us. In return, we have much to offer in the way of unqualified Blue and Gold support. I'm sooo impressed. The only person we haven't heard from is Vapor--probably because s/he is busy working out. Good stuff. Kepola, you're our next racer up and I don't know if this is your first, tenth, or one hundredth tri. What I do know is that we'll be rooting for you this week and especially on Saturday. This is your week, baby!!! |

Here are my goals for this month: Swim: 10,000 meters Bike: 340K Run: 125K First Tri: July 17th Graham Beasly sprint Tri in Carleton Place. Can someone explain to me how this works? Do I just continue to log my time on the web log here and someone tracks it? I have never done a challenge before. Thanks Sarah |

Veteran 118 Roseville, California | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge OK, team. Sorry I haven't posted my goals yet for the month. I had to work all weekend, plus had friends staying from out of town (I did manage to workout each day, though). Anyway, so you all know something about me: I'm new to triathlons this season. I've done some cycling in the past and running (eg, Philly marathon 03), but I'm a real newbie with swimming. I have a race this Saturday, Try the Tri! in Bristol, RI. It'll be my second sprint. Feel free to cheer me on. For the remainder of the season I have one more sprint and two oly's scheduled. I still need to perform calculations for my July goals. I will get them posted today... Thanks! Go Endless Summer!! Paul |

I will need a final tally of everyone's goals (PM them to me). It's easier for me to read single PM's from each Captain instead of hunting for goals (some scattered through a thread) in all 10 threads. THANKS! |

Elite Veteran 1817 Cedar Rapids, Iowa | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge Happy Tuesday, teamies! Hope everyone had a GREAT long weekend and that you are now ready to kick some butt! I personally need to get out there and burn off some of the beer I drank. Looking for some advance help: my personal challenge this month is going to be the swimming, because I have to get up at the butt crack of dawn to do it, and that is VERY hard for me. So feel free to chime in with the tough love on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between now and the 23rd of the month (when I head off to RAGBRAI) if you do not see that I have logged any swim time. I, of course, am MORE than happy to return the favor to anyone who may need it GO TEAM ENDLESS SUMMER! |
