All right, flights and place booked! In on the 10th and out on the 14th. Sharing a 3br condo under a mile from the start.

Now back to that swimming, biking and running deal. Ya, slacking in all three!

Wasn't too thrilled about getting the email notifying us that there is no athlete check-in on Friday.  I know it's like that for an IM, but for a half?  First one I've seen where you have to check-in two days in advance.  Oh well...got the flight changed and added a hotel room.  I guess it's better than not getting the email and showing up a day late.

For those who know the area: I will arrive at Miami airport on wed afternoon. I will drive early on thu morning to Clearwater. I am assuming 4hrs drive: should I consider more than that for traffic or should it be smooth?

does it mean there will be a chance that it will be a non wetsuit swim?

i suspect it is fairly safe to assume that the race will be wetsuit legal. the water temp is just above the limit right now and there is about 3 weeks left of cool-ish temperatures.

but, there's always a chance.

Athlete Guide says no access to gear check bags on race morning.  Anyone know if this is true?  I think they said the same thing at IM CDA, but we were able to put stuff in our bags on race morning.

I can't wait Smile

I have seen many waves every 5mins, I am in the 11th wave and not so much people at each wave. That's an excellent organization. I think about 100-150 people each

Hey everyone, hope your taper week is going well and you're excited to race next weekend. I tried to work some things out to get down there and watch, but it didn't work out.  However, I am need of some good quality photos of a certain athlete that will be racing (it will be VERY easy to spot this person) and am wondering if any of you have a good support crew member that might be willing to help me out with some pictures?  I can give more specific info about the athlete I need the picture help from if you have someone who fits the bill.
Thanks and BEST wishes!

it seems to be sunny and warm over there in Clearwater. I wonder if we get water temperature too high to use the wetsuit. I am too scared of not using it!

It looks like the water temps dropped a bit over the weekend (I see it posted at 75° today), so age groupers should be able to wear wetsuits.

I know Panama City Beach is farther north, but it looked downright cold in the morning at IMFL.

Sorry Brittany - I'm traveling by myself.  No support group this time.

According to the NOAA bouy at Pier 60, the current water temp. is 64.9 degrees.
Bring your wetsuits.

here's the link for those interested.

Wow flight leaves Weds morning and I have done ZERO packing.... time to get on that tonight.

We're moving house right now too, so I spent my weekend packing boxes and furniture into PODS.

I bet the water temps dropped. we've had quite the cold snap for about 4 straight days. it'll be better by the weekend but the overnight temps are dipping pretty low here! wetsuits will not be a problem! see everyone at the end of the week! happy taper!

Whew - glad that's over with!  Tough swim.  Fast bike - a few packs out there, no?  I don't know why, but that run was miserable for me.  It looks relatively easy, but I really struggled out there today.

Clearwater is very nice and the weather has been awesome!  I'm here for the next couple of days and I'm very much looking forward to hanging out on the beach and doing absolutely nothing!

I hope everyone had a good experience...looking forward to reading the race reports!

Really happy with the way the race went and I can honestly say that I raced clean (my 2:30 bike was way off of the mean time on Saturday). The packs were pretty funny...I did expect some drafting but a couple of those packs were just Sunday morning breakfast rides that just happened to be moving at 26-28 MPH. I mean, WOW!

Just chilling on the deck at Shepards now...unfortunately back to reality tomorrow.

Great job all.
