Subject: RE: What evolution debate?Oh.. and joeinco gets the dollar. While there is no actual "separation of church and state" in the Constitution, It was developed from the First line of teh First Amendment. Please note that it says, "respecting an establishment of religion" then says, "or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. " These people recognized the polarity and issues a state run, forced religion would cause and sustain.
Joe also gets the 10th amendment thing too. States had rights. Massachusetts actually had Catholocism as a state religion well into the 20th century. Those Damn Kennedy's! Just joking. It was great to hear (read ) everybody's side. There are some down to earth, calm people in this topic.
