Starting weight 201.5 lbs as of Jan 5th...

plan is basically to cut out drinking which I don't miss much, and cut out eating, snacking, after dinner (which I will miss). Go to one cheat meal a week, and up my milage for swimm, bike, and run.

So I weigh in at 167, exactly where i was a week ago!  It takes time and persistence.

My plan is to simply eat better, and less.  Lunch, snax and sweets have been my downfall.  Need to do healthy lunch--fruit, nuts, reasonable low-fat salads, nothing really processed or high fat, etc.  Snax and sweets are a limiter! At least most of the holiday candy and cookies are done!

So, essentially, re-stating my New Year resolution for the third year in a row:  Eat smarter and better!

Training-wise, my goal is always to try to have 3x each S, B and R each week.  Have been pretty good with that lately, but the cals going in have been too high!

I am starting training in earnest now for an early May marathon.  After that, Racine Half Iron in July, maybe Chicago Marathon in October.

Whats everyone else have on calendar for 2011?

So, what kind of plan is everyone using for weight loss?
I am tracking my food and workouts on BT (have been for about a year).

I use myfitnesspal.com to track my nutrition as it's a littler friendlier & easier than the one here.  I just try to have a balanced diet, keeping my splits in the 55% / 15% / 30% for carbs, fat, and protein.

OK, I am gonna try this. I am at about 181 now, have been this weight for about 6 months since losing 20 last year. I don't think I've seen sub-170 since high school, but why not try?

Good luck all!

Whew, that really is a stretch goal for me.  I haven't been that low since college (a good 5 years ago).  My plan is to eat completely clean and paleo.  Started Whole30Life yesterday, which basically is paleo, but additionally cuts out all forms of sugar other than fruit.  Also integrate strength and cardio... I'm contemplating a half marathon at some point this year, so lots of running.

Good luck everyone!

Up from 158lbs when I did my last tri of the season this Oct. Staying in the 150s is hard for me. Get below 150 will be awesome, hope I can do it this year.

I must say, I'm happy to see a couple other ladies here looking to drop post-baby weight. I had some to lose BEFORE I got pregnant! I'm very motivated, but the going is slow... My joints don't seem to be on the same page with my motivation, determination and cardiovascular health. My joints are hurting way before I get winded or my muscles start protesting, but every source I've consulted says this is normal and will go away, and to take it easy. Taking it easy sure makes it hard to lose weight. Did/Are you other ladies having joint pain since your babies were born?

Also, sorry guys, I hope I'm not irritating you by bringing this up in this thread

I think I've just had more joint pain as I've aged.  I'm 31 now, I definetly hurt more than I did when I was 25.  Never really associated it with having kids (I've had three).  It probably wouldn't hurt to add a little glucosamin/condroitin to your supplements.  Also, Yoga helps, I think.  I messed up one of my knees a couple of years ago, training for a half marathon.  It all stemmed from tightness in my thighs (IT band!).

Sorry if I sound like a know-it-all.  We've had lots of injuries in my household, most of them endurance sport related.

On a totally separate note, I have a couple of things that have been working for me for losing weight over the last five months.  Green Tea!  I drink real, brewed green tea at least twice a day and have had a much easier time dropping a pound here or there.  Even when I stopped working out and eating well over the holidays, I managed  to at least maintain my weight.  That would of NEVER happened before.  Secondly, if you have a Droid phone, I downloaded "Calorie Counter" app for free and love it!  If I feel I need to watch myself a little closer for a week or two, I use it for meals and workouts and can consistently drop pounds.  It has a barcode scanner that has been AWESOME.

Hope this helps everyone!

Paleo is a diet/nutrition philosophy that basically says:  Eat like a caveman.  If caveman didnt have it, you cant have it.  You cut out processed foods (didnt have those in Paleolithic period), excess sugars, caffeine, etc.  I think that the diet was first really espoused by Gordo  Byrn, a former pro triathlete, and it got a strong following in the tri world beause well if a pro says so, it IS so......  It is interesting and all, especially with the processed foods, since most of them are no good anyway.  But, all a bit too much for me and I could never find Brontosaurus Burgers.

Here is a link to a thread on it.  Search the site, it comes up for discussion pretty regularly.

could you expound on the droid/calorie counter/barcode reader thing??? I have an EVO, and use the WW point calculator sometimes, but don't really keep track of my diet as much as I should.

I am 35 now, so I guess some of the pain could be contributed to aging, but I only started training/running in my very late 20's and early thirties anyway and never had any(other than sore muscles) pain so I'm not 100% convinced that's the problem. I will try the green tea and glucosamine, though, that can't hurt!

Chicagoman is right.  Basically the plan that I am following only allows meat, veggies, fruits, and nuts.  No sugar, dairy, beans/peas, or processed foods.  The benefits claimed are higher and more constant energy throughout the day, more restful sleep at night, anti-inflamitory benefits, and weight loss.  Here is a link to the Whole30 plan that I'm following, it explains everything in good detail.

http://whole9life.com/2010/12/whole30-2011/

I have known people that have done this with very good results, and I figured it was worth a try.  I broke my wrists in November, so I am also interested in the anti-inflamitory aspects of it.  Today is Day 3 and I feel great.  I'm writing about how I feel each day in my log, so feel free to stop by.  I'm also happy to answer any questions about my experience with it.
