I thought a HIM had a 56 miles bike? just curious, hopefully the extra 2 miles won't do me in! getting excited for my first HIM. I sure wish it would warm up so i can stop freezing on my rides! It's just logistics of how they can route the course. I've done quite a few HIMs and most are off by .5 to 2.0 miles. |

i remember when i did Mighty Montauk, finishing the first loop and seeing 28.5 miles, going arrrgh i have to ride 57 miles, i would rather them tell me it is 58 than tell me 56 and lie. realistically though the extra mile or two means nothing on the bike in the grand scheme of things. i just dont want a 1 or 1.5 mile swim this year, get it close to the 1.2 please, lol!!!

there is a thread in the Mass State forum where the RD chimed in, they have changed the bike course from the last couple of years to avoid a busy intersection and were able to shorten the course to 56 miles. the course is available on the Patriot Tri Sun Multisport website. i must say, these guys run a great show, it is why i am willing to travel 3 hours to race, i have never been dissapointed with their races. i can do races closer to my home, but the Sun races are an awesome experience. Oh and so are the Mass Mafia!!!!! |

Expert 1452 Troy, MI | Subject: RE: Patriot Half Triathlon : Official Thread I posted this in the Massachusetts forum but I'll post this here. What kind of "rolling" hills should I expect? There is no elevation chart. I am coming from flat so I want to get some practice on some comparable hills. |

I am hoping to finish before the cutoff time. jogo - 2011-04-21 11:17 AM I posted this in the Massachusetts forum but I'll post this here. What kind of "rolling" hills should I expect? We can enjoy the back of the bike pack together ;-) I am a great swimmer, a terrible cyclist and an ok runner. I'm hoping for under 8 hours. |

Its nice to know I'll have company. I can swim (not great, but I survive), am a terrible cyclist, and a fair runner but I love endurance running. I am hoping for under 8 hours but truly I am just hoping to finish. With the gas prices right now, it would be a pity to drive hundreds of miles and not make the bike cut off time. Veteran 612 Kennebunkport, Qatar | Subject: RE: Patriot Half Triathlon : Official Thread Thanks everyone for the information on the bike route, I guess mostly curiosity about the length, but thought I might have to buy a 72.3 sticker LOL! I really appreciate the course map and the elevation also, makes me feel better about the ride so early in the season. with the weather not cooperating the legs just don't have a lot of hill climbing in them yet. getting excited to get on with the race and see how I do??? |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Patriot Half Triathlon : Official Thread Picked up my new Ordu at the bike shop (not completely happy like normal to get new bike...frame was ruined by Federal Express last month so I had to get parts moved to a new frame), drove down to Lakeville and rode the new course today. Course is very similar but changes just after you cross 140 on S Kingman, then you switch to the Cranberry course for about 10 miles, once you make the climb on Long Pond, instead of going right at Cranberry onto Marion, you go left and make a loop then get back on Marion, then right on North that turns into 18. New parts of course are good...maps on line are fantastic almost to much detail Two tight turns... at 13.52 miles right turn onto Old Powder House Road...fast downhill with right turn ...this is same hill you do on Cranberry then you have to make a left at bottom and they have many volunteers manning this corner...for Patriot you will be turning right before the bottom of the hill at 20.69 miles or 21.12 onto Millar is tight turn that road is banked strange and you will have some speed |

Expert 1452 Troy, MI | Subject: RE: Patriot Half Triathlon : Official Thread Rudedog55 - 2011-04-27 11:51 AM SOLD OUT BABY!!!
awesome!!!
I went on the website and it said the waiting list is full. Do they do transfers? How does someone get a spot who is on the waiting list? Loosely considering giving up my entry. With the price of gas, I'm looking at $400 for gas at $4/gallon (and it may be higher by then). I don't want to be a no show if there is someone who truly wants to do the race and couldn't get in. I have not decided to give it up yet but I am just wondering if anyone knows. |
