I need to brag a little bit, if you all don't mind.

My son has been taking Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes for 3 months, my daughter has been taking them for 1 month. There are several adults who help the instructor during class, and others who come in early for their class which is right after the kid's class.

I had several people comment last night about how well my kiddos are doing. One of the guys who helps instruct sometimes told me it is beautiful to watch my kids on the mat. He said they both just have this natural flow to their movements, and natural instinct. Another guy congratulated Keri when she came off the mat on getting her stripe. He told her he loves to come watch her whip up on the boys who are older than her, bigger than her, and have been doing Jiu-Jitsu a lot longer than her. I was also asked if my kids have thought about doing competitions. One of the instructors thinks both of them could be champions. We will talk about that later, for right now I'm just going to let them have fun with it.

I am very proud of both of my kids, for everything they do, but I was just amazed that other people have been noticing them, too.

That is great Ann.  Of course, Ghoulies all know how awesome your kids are.

kcarroll - 2011-09-01 12:17 PM Quick drive by hello! Tx for all the texts, storm updates etc. Power back on yesterday. Woo Hoo! Living large again. Hope everyone is gearing up for a nice long weekend. I was planning to go to VT but that's out. No open roads in or out of town. What a mess.

Kim, glad to know you have power back.

I've got just a half day of work today to survive.  Then I'm heading north to visit the family.  My little sister is getting married tomorrow!  And Melissa is getting in tomorrow too so she gets the fun task of meeting every single relative and crazy family friend that I know.  Haha.  Poor Melissa.  Should be a great weekend!

Good morning Robin.

If you'd like, you can borrow my large, heavy bat to take with you to the Dr.'s office. People should listen to you then.

My daughter brought home an invite last night to join a running club at school. I think it is similiar to Girls On The Run, but on a smaller scale. It is only open to 3rd and 4th grade girls. It meets once a week for an hour after school. They get together, talk a little bit, do some sort of run, do some stretches, then head home.

It is an 8 week program, and it is Thursday nights, which is a soccer night. She wants to do it. She is going to be a busy girl this fall.

Oh I think she should! It is wonderful to be able to get girls involved in sports young. I was raised before Title 9. Girl's sports were few and far between.

I think she should, too. They talk about things like self esteem, and postive self image. I think it would be good for her. She loves to run, she smiles while she is running, it is cute to watch.

Baseball bat didn't work. I am getting referred to an endocrinologist. Turns out my blood worked proved, once again, that I am not normal. Heck, I could have told them that.

Bill just gave me a call. He has come to his senses and is not doing the Trans Georgia ride. It is really extreme and the tropical storm coming in  means that the weather will probably be downright dangerous. Since it is self supported through  the forest it just seemed wise to call it over. He wanted me to post to let folks know why he can't be tracked.

See, he is trainable

Happy Labor Day!

I've had coffee with DH and the dogs (okay the dogs didn't have coffee).  Now I will make Hawaiian Blueberry Pie for this afternoon.  Hopefully get a run in (if I get myself moving) and then over to friends this afternoon for burgers and fun.

Hope everyone has a wonderfully refreshing day!

Decided to do the run before the pie while it is still cooler.  It went very well.  I was planning on 5.5 and went 7.2 because I missed my turnaround spot.  But I was pleased with the pace and how it felt on the hills.

And now I can feel better about having dessert at the BBQ.  LOL

Hi Ghouligans. Busy weekend, although not much to show for it. Hip is still bothering me, so icing and resting continues. Grrrrr. I can get back on track for NYC, but it needs to heal soon.

Had a small fatality at the house yesterday. Chipmunk (at least that's what I think it was) got into the air-conditioner unit. I was in the kitchen when this loud thumping started. I ran out and saw blood flying everywhere. Turned off the AC and the carnage ended. Not much left of whatever it was. Just a lot of blood. Gross. I don't really love chipmunks, but that was a nasty way to go.
