Bettylou - 2006-01-24 12:19 PM I want to do this. I'm in Ohio. We could do a Great Lakes Team??

I'm in. I nominate you to be our Captain.

And Sulis lives near a really big lake so that's probably enough to join us.

StarGazer in Wisconsin (also a Great Lake state!) has agreed to captain a midwest team. So I jumped on that. Care to join us? We need a cool name....

Ok, I'll join if they'll have me.

Of courseanyone who wants to be an honourary midwesterner for the month of Feb (and who wouldn't want to be) can join the team.

question has come up as to whether dreadmill milage counts?  I don't think its addressed in the above rules, but personally I think it should.

If treadmill mileage doesn't count then I may have problems, it gets cold running outside this time of year......

I'd like to join, either a Canadian team, or maybe the Great Lakes team, as I live close to Lake Huron, or maybe a newbie team, as I am just starting training......

I think it's okay to count treadmill mileage as long as the ones who are tough and running outside (in the same cold that you are avoiding!) are allowed to tease you about it.

Seriously, I don't know why they wouldn't count. I would be like saying only OW Swimming counted in the swim challenge and not pool swimming. As long as you're logging the miles, I think it counts.

Gotta allow the treadmill. If I'm taking care of the kids, it's my only option and that happens at least 1-2 times a week. I use this Treadmill Pace Conversion Chart to determine my "real" pace and distance.

If NY is anything like Illinois, Rochester would be considered "Flyover" country.

You bet. Treadmill miles count. It's all about getting people out and working on mileage.

WHAT???What is the SPORT in that....saying HIT THE ROAD or POUND SOME PAVEMENT outside (which was the motivator in itself for me here in New England) for the "CHALLENGE" then reneging?? I suffered thru all the small print and terms and condition blah blah blah to read...."treadmill time/mileage now counts??"How about adding .5% for total time/mileage if you are running outside?

MAtriMom - 2006-01-25 7:39 PM Clearly the New Englanders know how to swim...but where are all the runner's ...anyone...anyone?  I would like to propose a New England Team...Jump in here any ole' time you guys...waiting...waiting...come on...it's not that cold outside...I'm in...just need to figure out how far...If I can't find a team (in New England...the ONLY place to live)  then I will have to align myself with the Midwestern team as I spent my formative years in St. Louis...OK NEers...Let's hear form you!

OK... I'll joing the NE team. Looks like the New Yorkers are leaving us for their Great Lakes team.  So how many New Englander?  And we need a team name!

Anyway, don't think I can pledge too many miles as I plan to get back to swimming in Feb.  Will figure out the mileage next week.

Count me in for team New England:  mileage TBD and sent to our captain...

Who is our captain anyway?  I'll look around.  In a pinch, I could don the hat.

Cheers, -SunnyS
