Hey Stake:

I would really like to know the origin of this tagline, it cracks me up everytime I see it:

"If she's well taken care of, why would her *** hurt?"... Muffin

LOL

Some things I just cannot divulge.  You'll have to ask jldicarlo.

I don't watch any sports programs - except I WILL be tuned into some Winter Olympics events.

I did catch a commercial for ESPN on your cellular phone (?). The caption said something like "For the Sports Nut/Fan" and I was thinking "a sports nut wouldn't be sitting on his/her asss watching other athletes performing, he'd be out doing some sport."

Excellent point. That's why I'm not surprised that the replies to this thread have included little Superbore watching.

The only time I watch football is on the trainer, and then its taped so I can FF through the commercials and inane commentary (a neat trick when you're on the drops in the trainer

I would argue from a purely scientific sampling standpoint that the the question is very slanted so that those that did in fact watch the super bowl would not reply.  Most of those folks probably got their workout in earlier in the day.  Just sayin'.

Oh, and all those who posted on Max's "Lance and Cheryl" post are of course excluded from this rant.  I'm not talking about your basic male/female drooling here.   Lance is welcome to stop by....(Sorry Markk, you know I love you   )

LOL Cindy, you bailed out of that one in some awfully small print.  Markk might need some sort of "kiss-a-thon" just to offset that!!

I'll keep everything in one post...

We took our two kids to a friends house.  Friends have six kids.  Another couple with five kids came over.  One more lady with six kids came over.  So all the kids were upstairs watching tv themselves, oldest is 14years.   Adults and toddlers downstairs.   No fights. yay!

I fell asleep in the third quarter.   The commercials for the most part sucked.

My dad plays NO sports- never has.  He watches more sports on television than anyone I know.  Any sport. you name it, he watches it.   But... he never watched any of my softball, went to ONE swim meet, no track meets, no gymnastics.   My brother? he'd go to each baseball game.   He lasted maybe two seasons before giving sports up.   Dad's  been to one of my races and didn't seem to like it too much.

I am so gonna watch the Winter Games.

i have to admit..  i'm usually the one who cares the least about the game (unless it's the Chargers )..  the kids are sometimes a welcome distraction..  yesterday's antics were a little over the top though..

Sounds like we had the same day. I rarely watch the superbowl, but yesterday, I was begging and pleading with my kids to give me half a break. I don't know what it is about Sunday with those two...OI!

I took the kids swimming. We practically had the pool to ourselves.

You know, it doesn't really surprise me that on a forum of active people such as this that many didn't watch it - I'd personally much rather DO a sport than watch it on TV. More fun to chase my kids around outside playing Nerf football than veg in front of the TV.

It seems a little hypocritical to call watching a football game 'vegging' in front of the t.v. when about 99% of us on here would watch Ironman Hawaii for ten straight hours if they would broadcast it. As it is, people complain that the one and half hour show was too short. Just because the sport (football) is not your cup of tea, doesn't mean that other active people can't enjoy some spectating for a few hours. Think about it. How many people would consider watching a triathlon a 'superbore', or golf, or certain Olympic sports. The 'elitist' attitude only divides us as a people even further.

I don't like football, or baseball, or hockey.  The only sporting events that I will watch are Ironman competions, ITU Olympic triathlons and the Tour de France, all which I tape so that I can zip through all those agonizing advertisements.

My take on it is that the superblow is just not all that it is hyped up to be. If the media hyped up the Ironman they way they do the superblow there'd probably be a bigger flollowing.

just sayin'

It's a simple matter of economics. What's more popular football or triathlon? If trialthon had the following of football they could charge $2.5 million for a 30 second commercial and then, believe me, you would see all the Ironman hype you could imagine, but that's not the reality of it. You have to have the following to get the hype. You can't have the latter without the former.

Regardless, the guys comment was drawing a parallel between watching a sporting event and vegging out in a negative conotation, when he would (more than likely) gladly 'veg out' in front of the tube if it were a program of more interest to him, hype or no hype.

I understand about the econimics. I know football is more popular than triathlon. I would veg out in front of a televised Ironman too.
