Ontherun-
I signed up for 960 points. The breakdown is based on 35000 yds swimming, 90 miles running, 250 miles biking. Plus I think I gave myself a little wiggle room. My challenge for this challenge is that I will be on my very last ever Spring Break from Mar 18-26. That time span includes driving to upstate NY, driving to FL, 5 days in FL, and then reversing the process. It's really the weekend long stuff that I'm worried about particularly the rides and then swimming yardage will be approx half the normal that week.
Why I do this much- cuz the coach says too. Seriously, I'm doing FL 70.3, Mooseman Half, Musselman Half, Timberman 70.3, and IM Moo. Ahhh, you say, now it becomes clear. I'm a sucker for high mileage. I'd much rather suffer at a moderate level for a long time than a high level for a short time.

Well I am looking to train for a Sprint, and the way I came up with 875 points, was based on the following.

Swim = 151 minutes or 7550 yards = 75.5 points, opps there is my math error.  I was thinking 1/10 not 1/100.

Running = 155 minutes or about 13 miles or 51.6 points.

Biking = 328 minutes or about 82 miles or 82 points.  So I should have signed up for 209 points.

Looks like I am going to be a little short.

So you're now shooting for 209. Go for it! (Math and I are nearly mortal enemies so I completely understand)

Wow, I made an honest attempt at figuring out what my schedual said for this months training and came up with my number. I am ammazed at some of the 500+ point pledges this month. this is outstanding! Just currious, are what kind of races are you running this year 1/2 IM and IM's? I must say though, I wish I was not on the drainer right now, my numbers would be able to go up

I am training for just one race, an olympic distance one. This month is the second month in a 4 month training schedule that I found/tweaked, and after upping the running mileage a bit I came up with 800 points: 19000yds swimming (190pts) 340 mi bike (340pts) and 67.5 mi run (270). I'm an injury plagued runner, so my challenge will be slowly building my running mileage to the point where I think I can race a 10K, but without breaking my shins and ending my training.

Check in here. This has shaped up to be an individual challenge, so just announce to the world your goal on this tread, and you're in. I'll start a new thread weekly for the posting of progress.

Since March ends on a Friday I'm going to post my current stats on Fridays...

23 points of 291 or 8% of goal.

The following doesn't matter as one can get their points however they choose but I am seeing if I can stick to my training plan for March (running an swimming).
11% of my swim goal is completed
5 % of my run goal is completed

My goal is 545 points (I am figuring a very genorous rate of 15 mph biking and 12 minute miles running. ) And yes, I am planning on doing at least 1 HIM this year.
Breakdown
170 points- swimming
200 points- running = 10 hrs of running
175 points- biking = 700 minutes of biking

RafeOsha,

I have no excuse for making that math mistake, I work in accounting.  I just was not thinking about .1 verses .01.  I was thinking 100 yards = 1 point, therefore 7550 yards = 755 points, a decimal slide.  Not a good thing.  That is a brain fart.

Is it to late to join? Are there teams? With so many challenges going on I had a hard time telling if there are teams or not.

No - not too late. Sign up was okay up until Sunday. No teams either. Decide on your training goals for the month and then figure out the points (see earlier posts). Post back with your # of points you wish to attain.

Through Sunday March 5:

bike 250 goal 58 actual 23%
run 360 goal 86 actual 24%
swim 350 goal 66 actual 19%
960 goal 210 actual 22%

I'm actually pretty happy with my progress since it was a short week with only 2 bikes and 2 swims. It did help that I rode 16 miles longer than the scheduled training though. Maybe a little cushion if things get tight later in the month.

Bike 53mi (and change) - 53pts
Run 13.25mi - 53pts

TOTAL 122 pts

Awesome chart!

Little tweak: my run total of 3 mi I think should read at "12" for pts (v. 11.7)
my goal: 150 pts
swim: 3
bike: 12.9
run: 12

I think this is going well so far. Looking forward if I do a good job reaching my goal this month to bump it up for the next one.

good luck everyone!

mcarla....I'll make the change. The reason it says 11.7 is because when I checked your info for last week, there was only a time on the run, and no distance....35min/3min = 11.7 points. It will be corrected soon.
