Sometimes when it's Manhood that you are thinking about. One of my first 5K road races couple years back, some granny (a Longtime Runner) with a little Scotty Terrier (leashed) passed me. No way a little Scotty was going to beat me, so I stayed with in striking distance (Snot was flying out of my nose-Huffing and Puffing, WILLING my legs to keep turning over....with 50-60 yards to go and finish line in site. Swung around her and pumped the arms smoked her and the dog. Yeah ! take that....Something weird happens in your mind during races. If you are determined to beat someone, you need to stay in their draft and NOT let them no you are there. Otherwise they might outsprint you.

I personally love Rogers and Hamerstein. I couldn't top you on the veloor shirt though. There is a picture somewhere of me in a burnt orange corduroy leisure suit and my hair permed into an afro. Komen Race for the Cure, 5K. Wow! Only a week left. I suggest you pick up the training, maybe run an all-out 10K each day between now and the race. Make that two per day, one in the morning and one in the evening, and run them at your target 5K pace. Then you'll be at your peak, come race day. |
