moana -  I can't figure out how to put in my current weight.

If you look about halfway down the training page you should see a place to enter it.

Weight Entry

 Weight View

Then it appears at the top of your daily info.

I hope that helps.

As far as the legs hurting, I've been a powerlifter for years and between squats & deadlift I thought my legs were tough.......after swimming and biking the last week...not a chance, I've been hobbling around after my workouts.

moana - 2012-01-10 1:34 AM First day of training went pretty well. My legs and feet are definitely feeling it. I had a question about the training log. How do you input your weight data into the goal? I made a few goals for myself but I can't figure out how to put in my current weight.
You can also go to settings then training log settings, goals is it the end of the tabs 2nd row.

There is plenty of room, and you guys are IN!

I just got over a solid week of a head cold. I can think of many better ways to spend the first week of the training year. What can ya do, right?

I hope that everyone is feeling good. Make sure you are taking the appropriate precautions as weather changes. A lot of time this get overlooked on the bike because you expect to warm up since you're exercising. Don't forget about the windspeed that you are creating on your own!

I think New Year's Resolutions are silly, I mean, why waste the other 364 days! Life is short, live it up on a daily basis. If you think you have a great idea. Do it!

Jac

I'm needing some help on which plan to use to train for my first sprint tri this June 2012. I've looked at the free plans and can't figure out which one since I really need to work on running the most. I would appreciate it if you could give me a few suggestions on which plan would be good for me. Swimming is my strength, running is my weakness.

Thanks!

moana

?  ?i think you should try the 20 week sprint run focus plan, Just start slow and put in the time running and lots of walking in the beginning - don't worry about milage  just log the time spent on the road.  After a few weeks you'll be suprised that you will be doing more running then walking.  You got 20 weeks to get ready for a 3 mile run.  You can do it!  Whenever i walk I try to walk like those old ladies in the mall...like your walking to catch a bus!

Bill

Okay, thanks for your reply Bill. I'll try that plan out.

Moana

I agree with Bill. Stick with and you will do GREAT! Have you thought at all what you will be for a training planning after the 20 weeks, but before the race?

I would love to become part of your mentor group. I am 54 female and discovered Tri's last year. Race two sprints (Strawberry Fields Oxnard, Camp Pendelton) and Malibu Olympic. I am new to all of this...and am loving it.

Hi Jac, glad you're feeling better!

I found out my sprint event is on June 17. So yea, my next question was going to be how do I adjust my plan because it ends about three weeks before my race? I'm open to any suggestions...still trying to learn how to use all of the tools of this site.

Moana

p.s. I agree, New Year Resolutions are silly...why wait! life is too short.

Kat, Welcome!

Moana, if you don't want to over think it, take a couple of the hard weeks and tie them in at the end. As for the week before the race. 3-4 days before you want to taper, so take it fairly easy and watch what you eat. Lots of good calories will make you feel like a million bucks on race day.

I have a couple of questions...

1) Where's the best place to work in strength training? In the past I would do strength training one day and then cardio the next...now I'm adding swimming and cycling and I would like to continue the strength training.

2) How important is a heart rate monitor at this point? If it's important and recommendations? I had a Polar a few years ago but the chest strap kept sliding down and it was a major pain are there alternatives to a chest strap?

Thanks

Bad91, welcome! What part of LA are you from?

SWF, my coach has me do 2- 30min "strength" sessions a week. Keep in mind a triathletes strength plan, and those used to other sports are very different. You don't want to accumulate mass, as it will slow you down.

Is there still room?. I did a sprint tri a few years ago and really want to get back into doing another one this year. I am fairly out of shape right now and need a good structured plan to get back on track again. support can always help too.

I am a 44 year old OT who works full time with special needs preschoolers. I have 3 kids (16,15,11) two of whom have special needs. I was divorced in 2011 and am ready to get my life going in the direction that I want it to.

I followed a 20 week training program before and plan to do that again to slowly re introduce all the sports. I am best at biking at this point and need lots of work on my swimming. I would love to have a place to come and check in, ask questions and get/give support.

Bad91, welcome! What part of LA are you from?

SFV-Burbank area

I am a 46 yr old weekend warrior.  I work alot but I also train 15-20 hours per week.  I raced alot last year...mostly sprint triathlons, a marthon, couple of 13.1, and 5 k's.  I usually race in the clydesdale division.  I have been very lucky and made a few podium finishes.  I plan on doing a bunch of races again this year.   Im starting on sunday with the LA 13.1.  For Feb and March, i have 2 sprints and I am doing Oceanside 70.3.

Training for the most part is fun but i really don't dig swimming.  I go into the mentor groups to help motivate me and hope to help motivate others.  Its hard working and training but I feel great when i race.  I even got my g/f doing the duathlon in Pasadena in March.

Anyhow that is a little about me, I hope everyone does well.  Looking forward to meeting everyone!!

Give the site time, as you go along and explore more in settings you'll figure it out.  It took me 1 year togo into "settings" and start to really figure things out.  I'm working on the nutrition page now..... work in progress

I guess I'll be seeing you Sunday. I will be a cycle escort at LA 13.1. I am doing Pasadena again this year. I hope you crush it. Set a goal of 1:06. Should put me pretty close to the podium depending on who shows up.

Well 3 inches of snow and I still rode my bike this morning.  It was slow and lucky the snow was light and fluffy.  If there was more or if the snow was wet I don't think I could have done it.  Studded tires rock.  Big confidence booster.  Still I put my foot down more then a few times to keep it upright.

Fun morning when i was done i looked like a snowman...  Ran 24min, Love running in fresh snow!

Hope everyone has good weekend

Bill
