Apparently admitting your own personal experiences and shortcomings is a recipe for being talked down too. What happened??? I'm sorry. Being talked down to on BT is totally uncalled for!!!! Oh everyone has differences of opinions regarding running on a treadmill. I experience issues with my form and gait as opposed to running outside and on trails, but apparently this is false and NO one else has ever experienced this problem. I even admitted that it was a personal problem I was experiencing, with balance issues and such, but seemed to be the target, even though others were stating they had stride issues, etc. as well. I guess it's ok to answer or give an opinion as long as you have all the answers already. I thought this was beginner triathlete, and that instead of being snarky, they could have helped me understand a little more. Sorry, feel like venting a little since I felt singled out when I felt like my concerns were legit. Knock yourself out with the venting. Everyone is different. As for me, I run on a treadmill for about half of my miles. I have a 3 year old. Gym childcare is my savior! Last year, I lobbied to get some super fantastic treadmills in the gym. They bought two Woodways. Wow! Wonderful!!!! The difference in the way I run is like night and day between the Woodway and the "other" treadmills. I prefer running outside. Unfortunately, my toddler does not like being in the running stroller anymore. The bike trailer is a totally different story, though. He LOVES it!!!! Argh!!!!! I get it! I had issues running on treadmills... But... I did get orthotics and spent some time with a physio on the treadmill so I learnt what i was doing to cause the problem... While Ive been super lazy recently I did get back to the treadmill a couple of times a week earlier in the year and for half an hour at a time (walk warm up, walking and jogging alternating, walking) without issues.. I was also stretching.. This might not work for you but I think there was something about how I adjusted my running style when I was on the treadmill causing the issue. I also was carrying quite a bit of extra weight which would have made the problem worse,At the end of the day the person that knows your body best is you! Thanks ladies. I am considering leaving BT and finding a different route to accomplish the goals I have set for myself. Not making any decisions as of yet. Edited by ecozenmama 2012-05-03 7:36 AM |

Payson, AZ | Subject: RE: MAY "You MAY Pick" Challenge--ALL WELCOME! I'm in. I set goals every month but only have myself to be accountable so that is not going so well. 1) run 4x's a week at a minimum 2) only eat ice cream twice a week max -> seems easy but it's not, and also means I am done with ice cream eating for the week. |

Too wrapped up in my own carp lately, when I have it pretty darn good. I will do 1 task for someone else each day of May. Goal #2 hmmmm something to do with gratitude. Not too sure how to quantify that one, will have to think on that. I guess I could just be grateful for something each day of May, with no repeats... |

Master 2770 Central Kansas | Subject: RE: MAY "You MAY Pick" Challenge--ALL WELCOME! I'm in. My last day of class is tomorrow; finals are Monday and Tuesday; By May 15th, I will be free, free, free!!! Goal 1: My son has started calling me the "crazy cupcake lady." The cafeteria here makes the most amazing cupcakes. I have at least one a day at lunch. Sometimes, I take one back to my office to have as an afternoon snack. This. Must. Stop. The cafeteria is open for only another eight days. No cupcakes for me! After it closes, I promise to not go looking for yummy cupcakes elsewhere (like at our coffee shop downtown.) Goal 2: Lose five pounds. Hey! I'll bet if I stop eating the cupcakes . . . . Oh, and my name is Felicia. And I love won't eat any more cupcakes. |
