I believe the Saturday briefing is a requirement of Triathlon Canada and/or some other governing body and is not the fault of TTF.

If that was the case, wouldn't both MSC and WEC have a mandatory meeting?

I was going to ask this since I've only had to attend mandatory meetings for HIM but never for Olympic distance in Ontario .
