Subject: RE: What Brand of Running Shoes do You Wear?I've been fitted at two different stores and been deemed pretty neutral as far as pronation goes, so I've got the following pairs of shoes:
New Balance 881 for Women: Nice fit in the heel with good support and a very generous toe box. I was having problems with my toes going numb when I was using the elliptical machine and this shoe eliminated that. I bought these from a New Balance store and was happy with the service.
Asics Gel Empire II: I started running and just wanted to be sure I was in the right shoe for me, so I went to a running specialty store to try on alternatives to the New Balance. I tried several pairs of Asics, Saucony, etc. I took each pair for a short jog up and down the shopping center. This shoe just felt the best on my feet. I've since added the elastic speed laces so I can get used to them and start practicing my transitions ... even though I won't need that skill until next year.
I'm SO thankful that I went to stores that specialize in running shoe fit. Even if I had happened on the right shoe, I would NEVER have bought the right size. |
