OMG! I was afraid to open JoshKaptur's link...but I couldn't stop myself. How did you do that? Flip off your bike and get dragged on your back???

My goal is always NOT to crash. But it's nice to see that you can crash, even hurt yourself, and find a way to shake it off and keep going.

That is the MEANEST road rash I have ever seen! Is an injury that requires stitches worse???

You guys are TOUGH! (OOOOooooh, I can't stand to see the face injuries. OH NO! Not the face! ;-)

When I showed my 8 y/o your pictures, she asked me why you were smiling ? I thought "good question". I hope you are doing better and that you're healing fast.

About a month and a half ago..30 mph or so in light rain down a bridge.  Hit the brakes, skidded the front wheel, and I went down so fast I didn't even get my hands off the bars, which was probably a good thing.  Separated shoulder was the worst of it.  The road rash healed fairly fast.   I rode back home, and was out again 2 days later.

To the person that asked how I did mine - 'twas a mountain bike crash that involed lots of sliding, tumbling, rolling, and bouncing down some grapefuit sized scree on an "intermediate" slope in telluride - which apparently means something different in Colorado than it does in Maryland

Looks like you were having a cook out. Not sure how guests would take to being served a hot dog by that arm with the oozing open sores!

But I guess after a few beers that wouldn't matter!

Hey - having spent 8 years in the Army, there isn't much that grosses me out too much to eat it!

And like I said...after enough beers no one would even notice!

By the way - I took the kids out for a bike ride today and my 9 year old got scared of the N. 10th street hill and we ended up turning around. He didn't mind the trails along the river though so we did that instead.

What gets me about this thread is all the pictures taken while still in bike clothes before any effort has been made to clean up...sick bunch we are....

When I crashed in my crit last year..my husband came looking for me while I was being attended to...I told him to take pictures...he asked the medical folks..they said sure..I had a bad concussion so I remember none of it..but I have pictures of me being put on backboard, and put into an ambulance. I find the pictures amusing now. I still have my ripped jersey with all the blood on it and the numbers pinned on that they cut off me..somehow I can't get rid of it.

Two weeks ago Sunday, road kill wipe out. I had 9 stitches in my chin, two in my elbow, broken tuberosity of the humerus and road rash all over. The chin was the worst. More pics are on my blog, http://thelazymarathoner.blogspot.com/2008/08/gory-details.html
