OH... uuuummmm... sure you want to post your personal home address on a public message board? Just saying. Thanks again for being so kind and generous and doing this! Too bad I'll probably miss out on the yummy part of the day! With that said... whomever is riding long... or rather riding with me... I'll just ask that I don't get left in the dust. I'm not that slow... but I'm not that fast either. You can look at my training logs for details. |

OH... uuuummmm... sure you want to post your personal home address on a public message board? Just saying. Yeah, I debated about this. You're probably right, so I took it off. PM me for the address if you didn't get it! Don't worry, Karen, we won't drop you. This ride isn't about speed. It's about having a good time/workout with a good group of people! Plus, you're getting so fast that we probably couldn't drop you even if we wanted to! |

New user 3 | Subject: RE: N. Texas TDF/Brick Party I would like to go as well. I don't have picture up, but I am Ken's buddy from work, Chris Alt. I was the guy drowning at Grapevine Lake last time. I think I have improved since then, but anyways, I would like to do the long bike ride, the one starting very early in the morning. I really wish we could swim though. |

I was the guy drowning at Grapevine Lake last time. I think I have improved since then, but anyways, I would like to do the long bike ride, the one starting very early in the morning. I really wish we could swim though. Glad you can make it Chris, and welcome to BT! I'm sorry about canceling the swim, but I just don't think it's feasible from the north side of the lake right now, especially from Murrell Park which is close to where I'd like to start our ride. The park is closed and thus we'd probably have to park illegally. Plus the water is 300-400 yards up the road and even if we could enter, there are picnic tables and garbage dumpsters that are completely submerged and would be very difficult if not impossible to spot. In fact, about a month ago, before they closed the park, I swam there one morning and banged my head straight in to a cross-bar divider that is normally about thigh high but was submerged. I don't know how I didn't hit with my hand/arm first, but I swam my head straight into that puppy. Hurt like hell and scared me straight!

I'll be there for the long bike and then a run. Can't pass up a good bike ride. TJ Wow! I'm honored, Tommy! I'm glad you're coming. I think we'll all have a good time as this seems to be shaping up nicely now. Here's who I have so far: Long ride: David (dgillen), Ken (kproudfoot), Karen (KSH), Chris (seal123), Tommy (zia_cyclist) Main ride & run: All the above, plus Sarah (GillenS), Mark (trinosaur), Mike (Turgy) Party: All of the above, minus Karen, plus Clint (jcbolton), and hopefully the ever-popular dynamic duo of Haley and Aaron (you know their screen-names, come-on!) If any of the above is incorrect, please let me know. Doug, have you talked with Texmom? Can the 2 of you make it? Please feel free to invite any other BT'ers or other friends you know who might be interested in this. The more the merrier! I just ask that you try let me know by Thursday so Sarah and I will know how much food to buy/make! Also, we'll have plenty of Gatorade, Cokes, and such, but if you want more "adult" beverages for the party, please feel free to bring them yourselves. I'll be PM'ing all of you with my address and cell phone number soon. Any questions? -David

But uhm I'd LOVE to meet local BT'ers and to get the recipe(s) for the casseroles. Why not just show up for the party portion? That way you can get some rest. I'm not sure how you taper though. My coach typically has me ride 20-30 miles the day before a race... an easy ride, but a ride none-the-less. You know what's best for your body and it's training though. |

Expert 739 Flower Mound, TX | Subject: RE: N. Texas TDF/Brick Party Everyone who has mentioned that they might be coming should have received a PM with my address and cell number by now. If not or if you have any other questions, please post here or PM me. I've tried to design 2 approx. 30 mile routes with minimal overlap that hit most of the nice roads I normally ride on. The first loop is about 31 miles. I'll have a cooler with ice, water, Gatorade at about mile 22. We'll also pass by this point at mile 11 of the 2nd loop (mile 42 total). Thus, you'll have an opportunity to refill at miles 22, 31 (back at the WAC where I'll also have a cooler), and 42. The second loop has an option to get back to the WAC after 25 miles in case some people want to quit after 25 or 55 miles. The run will have a 2.5 mile option without a water stop, and 4 mile route with a cooler setup at about the 2 mile mark. Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better this Sat. -David

Sarah and I should be all set for the party. Be sure to bring your running shoes, running shorts (if you're not wearing tri-shorts), a change of clothes for the party, and a towel or 2. |

Expert 853 Fort Worth, Texas | Subject: RE: N. Texas TDF/Brick Party Ok, no luck on finding a babysitter for 6 am so we flipped a coin and I am coming. Doug and I are going to be needing to get some long bricks in in preparation for our first HIM next October so we will have to alternate on these weekend get togethers with BT folks. I am in for the 60 mile ride although this will be my longest ride to date. The longest I have been before is about 45, but I think I can do it and keep up with the group. If not, I can always hang back on my own. David, I got the PM with your info and will plan to try to get to the spot around 6:30 or 6:45 on Saturday morning. I am also going to plan on doing the run afterwards, but am definitely slow on that front. I don't know how long I will be able to stay around afterwards, but hopefully long enough to say hello and visit for a bit. I have an appointment that I am going to see if I can change to a later time. Thanks so much for organizing this! I will look forward to meeting some new folks on Saturday. |
