Morning, Nibbs!

Sugar Daddy's car took a turn for the worse yesterday, so I'm "working" at home waiting for the tow truck today. Bah - let's hope it's fixable...it's an 8-year old car with 60K miles, so we're planning on holding onto it for a few more years.

Hopefully, after the tow comes, I'll have the day free to go to the gym (thank goodness it's in walking distance) and swim, maybe even a little run.

And I'm sure I'll forget something but...

Sal - gorgeous son...and fantastic pictures

Kendra - good luck with jury duty...for some reason, they don't seem to like lawyers or law profs on the jury

Beth - love the conversation about the movies...you've got good kids...and I like the graduation fiesta idea

Jen - glad you got your ambition yesterday...it was pretty out

and hi to Dee, Pam, Cat, and everyone else that I'm forgetting what they had going on this weekend. (I have adult ADD - I can't focus past the last page or two.)

Morning Nibbs!  Did my run this morning and I'm packed up to swim after school.  I should probably get there so I can do some work today.

Morning Nibbs!

Kristen, that's incredibly low miles for an 8-yr-old car.  We typically put between 15-20,000 miles on our cars/year...

Good luck...

That's what living in DC and Chicago will do for a car...the most we ever drove it was to the grocery store or the commuter train station...2-3 miles/day. Max. Now we live in SUV heaven, where you can't exist without a car, so I'm stuck at home.

Oooh. Looky...I lost stars again.

And hey, Jen - they're paging you over in COJ. Well, OK not really, but there's a thread on "Runners - Yeah We're Different" where they found the old 3Sports ads...now they're wondering about the roach. Can you explain the roach?

I can't really explain the roach, except to say he passed me like I was standing still at the duathlon this spring. (It's still humiliating to say that.)

geauxtri - 2008-05-05 9:52 AM Okay, must go cook dinner.  New recipe out of Cooking Light.
Will come back later and try to catch up

When you come back can I hear all about the new recipe?

Penne Pasta Bake.... Whole Grain Pasta... Italian Sausage... and of course - cheese.
Boil pasta, sauteé Italian sausage with bell peppers, italian seasoning, crushed red pepper... add garlic and herb tomato sauce... mix with pasta and pour into baking dish... stir in Mozz and crumbled goat cheese... top with fresh parmesean... bake until parm browns.

It's REALLY good and rather easy to prepare... hardest part was trying to find goat cheese in my grocery.

Well, The Blonde survived the Delta Three Bridges Bike Ride quite nicely, although she did have her first clipless fall. Piece of cake ride, 15 miles... I had 3 40something women chasing me the whole ride (including the Blonde) and I kicked their azzes

Her friend Susan, who rides a vintage Peugeot, is actually pretty good and it was hard to shake her - she really wanted to race!

Ride photos

Funniest bit - we were crossing the first bridge over the Sacramento River and this high maintenance woman in a Lexus yells at us "What are you people DOING on a state road?"Cool Even funnier because CHP had a lead car and the ride was sponsored by the Sheriff's department.

Oh, and The Blonde won a night at the Lakeside Inn at South Lake Tahoe + two prime rib dinners at the post-race raffle... guess where we are going? Wink

What more can you ask for than what appeared to be a fun ride ona beautiful day?!?!?!

So you may have beat the on land, but I bet they'd smoke you in water.... hahhaha

What? No wine?  Of course with the heat of summer slowly encroaching, I guess it is time to bring out the blenders....

Have you ever gone out for a little 2 mile run and come back 4+ miles later? Ooops.

It was soooo pretty out that instead of turning back towards home, I went the other way and added a couple miles to my mini-loop. Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous out.

I'm tired and it's only 3:30.  No real work left to do, but I do have to go to the pool.

kns57 - 2008-05-04 8:09 PM Tomorrow I go and report for Jury Duty. Keep your fingers crossed that I don't get put on a case, unless it is a very very short case. I have a book to read. Nintendo DS to play. Hmmmm, what else do I need?

you could always bring your knitting?

keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Actually the directions had a extra sheet say no knitting needles, etc. I would have like to have brought it. Most likely would have had it done by now.

So I survived my first day of Jury Duty. I have to call tonight after 7pm to find out if I need to report tomorrow. This is how my day went.

7:45 am - wait in line to go through the metal dectors.
8am - I'm now in the Jury Panel room.
8:30am - they start to try and get us into groups. Not only are the names listed on the 4 big screens around the room, a lady is reading off the names and people still did not know where to go. It was a circus. I was in the second to last group to be organized.
9:50am - my group is organized and the Judge for our panel has released us until 1pm.
YAHOO FREEDOM - went to Publix and bought all the ingredients to make enchiladas tonight.
1pm - report back to the Jury Panel room. There is only our panel of 15 people in there, a room that holds over 500. We read, slept, talked on phones, played nintendo. Fun day.
4pm - released for the day. Never even saw the inside of a courtroom.

I get to call back in after 7pm tonight to see if I need to report tomorrow.

I've got a 30 yr old Peugeot 10 speed hanging up in my garage. I'm not ready to let it go. When my son rides it, we can't keep up with him, even on our newer, lighter, more gears bikes.

No, I've never had that happen. Now go and swim for 1200m and find I did 2400m, yes.

I will be making boatloads of enchiladas!

what would you like the theme to be?

Graduation party? I never got one of those.... can you throw me one?

Afternoon/Evening Nibbs...

Got my bike back today!!!!  Now I think I'm going to take one more lazy day and then get up early in the am and swim then bike.  I'm going to let my bike "sleep" here in my office tonight.  Gonna have to remember my tools, though, I think the seat is too high.  Tried to ride it into my boss' office and just about fell off.  Nothin' like ridin' your bike around the office   Trying to convince boss that riding bikes between here and our outdoor pool (9mi RT) is in accordance with mayor's order to cut back on energy (it really isn't to be considered part of training)

Well, time to get home to the kiddo's.  Thinkin' we may take the crib down tonight... big step.

Anyone need a crib, I sure in the H*** don't anymore nor ever again!!!
