Extreme Veteran 981 Maryland | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance : Official Thread DanielG - 2010-11-01 11:58 AM Wow My race day breakfast is probably going to be exactly what it's been for a few years now: 4 SouthWestern rolls http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=182334with 4 cheese sticks. Haha wow 4 Southwestern rolls? That's amazing. I bet I would feel that the rest of the day. It's amazing how people are different. I don't eat much the morning of an IM, lately I've been stuffing down 2-3 Ensures and maybe a Clif Bar. Maybe I should switch it up a bit this time. I'm not going to like getting out of bed so early. :-( |

Champion 7595 Columbia, South Carolina | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance : Official Thread My October got pretty screwed up. I actually trained more in September... Anyway, Oct. totals for me were:
The bike includes a lot of trainer time. As for race morning breakfast, I don't eat a whole lot. A half a bagel with almond butter, some sports drink, a gel before the swim. If I ate 1500 calories I'd be puking halfway through the swim. And I have no idea what a Southwestern roll is, but I suspect it would have the same effect on me. Daniel's post definitely illustrates one thing: what works for one will not necessarily work for another. Edited by Experior 2010-11-01 1:31 PM |

When I want to have heartburn for a few hours. They are delicious but I would have some interesting GI issues if I took those and did some exercise. |

Anybody plan on running w/a "discrete" MP3 player? It sure seems like it's going to be REALLY quiet on the run course, everyone is going to be spread out. It gets quiet enough on a M-Dot run and that's 2-3 times more people. Can anyone who has seen this race on the run, comment? |

Anybody plan on running w/a "discrete" MP3 player? I'm not even considering it. I don't run with one, I don't bike with one and have no use for one on the course. Well, in all honestly I have no use for one other than on the rollers for rides over about an hour. |

Champion 7595 Columbia, South Carolina | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance : Official Thread When I'm suffering, I can't stand to have music in my ears. Drives me nuts. I do use an iPod for some of my easy runs, but for speedwork and long hard runs, no way. So no, I won't be using one on race day. |

Extreme Veteran 546 Oakland, Florida | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance : Official Thread I agree with others here. I don't swim, bike, or run with an IPOD. It is to distracting for me. If it helps you go for it. But for me it is to distracting and like someone else says really distracting when I am pushing a hard effort. |

Expert 1706 NoVA | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance : Official Thread Not racing this year BUT from last year---no ipod/mp3 for me but definitely saw a few on the run course---some trying to be tuck them under hats/visors others with them out in the open...then there was the girl with the mom/friend (not sure who she was) "pacing" her on a bike with a radio strapped to it.......... Yeah it does get pretty quiet out there---especially through the park near the water---the "end" part of the out/back is into/through a park and it gets quiet and dark there before sunset even---lots of trees/shade... |

Why do you need to be on a trainer to be in aero position? good question - i have a lot of hilly areas to ride in my area and i wanted to simulate the flat race course and the aero position. i am not in aero when i am climbing. |

I did B2B last year with a 808 up front and wheel cover/PT wheel on the back without any problems!!! I've also used that combo on some race days with much stronger winds then at B2B without a problem....I wouldn't even give it a thought. |

DC | Subject: RE: Beach 2 Battleship Iron Distance : Official Thread Seeing all of your numbers, I confess I've been feeling really crappy about mine. This morning however, I tallied mine & now I'm feeling OK. Thought I'd share: September Bike: 840m (325 of which were commuting to/from work) Run: 119.5m October Bike: 529m (160 commuting) Run: 67.5m Due to logistics, I swim intermittently. OK, now I'm hopping on board w/everyone else: Let' get it on! |
