Hmmm.... trying to make up for Bill's absence is hard work!

Since I had to scratch my scheduled marathon for April, I think I'm going to substitute a 2 mile OWS.  I'll probably get my a$$ handed to me, but it will be the farthest I've ever swum (sp) in open water.  I would think it would be good experience for me.  Its on my wife's b-day too.  I can't think of a better present for her Undecided

it is swam.  (I looked it up the other day)
I remember that it is just like the past tense for run/ran...swim/swam.

I was babysitting my little sister this morning.  Now that my mom is home I am heading to a friend's house to mow the lawn for her.  Hopefully I beat the rain.

Only one ride?  What a slacker!  <sarcasm intended>

Here is the Week 1 Challenge update:

1st place - bEASTies - 18.7%
2nd place - T.W.I.S.T.E.R. - 15.9%

But the month is only 23% over..... Wait, doesn't that mean both teams should be at 23% already? So you're BOTH slackers? Hm....

Be careful. If this keeps up, I will need to have everyone meet my taser collection.

Why are you here? Go work out now!

Just finished a nice long ride.  49 miles...my longest so far.  Most of the ride was pretty mellow, but we started to hammer near the end.  I still need to work on my hill climbing.

I did the time trial this morning!  I beat the record for women 30 to 39!  I almost beat the women's overall record!  Perfect day!   Race report won't be up for a couple days but you can read about it in my log.

Way to go, Tracy!!  You rock!!   Laughing

Just finished a little "practice" tri with some friends.... all indoors... pool,  a stationary bike, and a treadmill.   First time I have done all 3 so close together.  It went pretty good, but I am tired!!

I also wanted to see how my planned race outfit would do.  I am very pleased.  It was comfy all the way thru.

The BIG NEWS is:   I now have a road bike!!  Instead of my old, cheap mtn bike that doesn't quite fit me!

I had been saving for a new computer, but decided to go for the bike!  I will post pictures later when I can get everything sorted out.  It is a Trek 2.1 WSD.  Fits me like a dream (at least compared to the old bike LOL), has shimano 105 (shifters and rear and front ),  was a decent price and is white and yellow (I did manage to keep the color as non-deciding factor LOL)

I will be very curious to see how many mph this adds just by changing from my old bike to this one.  Unfortunately, it started raining today and is supposed to all week.  I really want to try it on dry pavement first.  The test ride was only a few miles, and it was more up and down hills and corners than my usual rides.

Great job Dee!  Did you do the same distances?  It's good to do some practice sessions in your race gear.  I'm going to start wearing my tri shorts from now until the tri to harden up my bits.

Congrats!  New toys are always sooooo much fun.  Who needs a computer anyways?  You would just be wasting your time posting here instead of training!

I did 1150 yds instead of the 500 that will be in the event, 12 miles on the stationary (I go much faster on the stationary than my mtn bike) and then 3.1 miles on the treadmill (I don't know how that will compare to outside).  At least I know I can do all three and live thru it!   Wink

The two girls that I did the practice with will also be at Beaver Freezer.  We are considering finding a team event to do as a relay.  We shall see!

Yeah, my desk top does okay.  I manage to keep up with the postings!  A new laptop would have been nice, but the bike will definitely be more fun!!

One of them did one or two tri last summer.  I am not sure about the other one.
We all work at the Y.  The youngest (30s) is an aerobics instructor, one (40s) is a lifeguard, and then there is the oldest (51), me!   I think it would be cool to do a team event just for kicks!

We are going to try to work out a time this week to all take our mtn bikes out for a rainy weather ride together.  They have not been riding outdoors at all this winter.  I can hardly stand to be on a stationary bike, so I have been riding outside rain or not.
