I, too want to get faster. Then I can go farther without having to invest a whole day. YES! I like going longer than 4 miles but it takes too much TIME!! My winter focus will definitely be speed. However, I don't know if I can get in 5-6 shorter runs a week and still bike and swim. hmmmm If you could get 4 runs in, along with swimming and biking, I'd bet you'd see an improvement. 4 might be doable. especially once the weather truly hits. Here is a Hal Higdon winter training plan. I'd substitute the Wednesday run with a day of cross training, that would make for 4 runs during the week. Here's how I'd do it. Monday - run & cross Tuesday - run Wednesday - cross Thursday - run & cross Friday - rest Saturday - long run & maybe cross Sunday - cross Even the long runs aren't that long so they could be doable along with a swim and or bike. I'll still keep looking though for something to improve speed. http://www.halhigdon.com/Ontherun/Winter.html |
