There are some winter maintenance plans available that I don't remember seeing last year. They may be something worth checking out.

I'll see if I can find a run specific plan to post for everyone.

OK gang. I've got to leave for just a few. Cats have to go to the vet for shots etc. I just brought the carriers up from the basement and they've made a run for it. Need to drag their furry butts out from under the bed and be on my way.

Back shortly with panties.

ceilidh - 2010-10-06 5:58 AM The problem with those longer distances is how long they take. I, too want to get faster. Then I can go farther without having to invest a whole day.

YES!    I like going longer than 4 miles but it takes too much TIME!!  My winter focus will definitely be speed.  However, I don't know if I can get in 5-6 shorter runs a week and still bike and swim.  hmmmm

If you could get 4 runs in, along with swimming and biking, I'd bet you'd see an improvement.

4 might be doable.  especially once the weather truly hits.

Better if you keep them off!

Here is a Hal Higdon winter training plan. I'd substitute the Wednesday run with a day of cross training, that would make for 4 runs during the week.

Here's how I'd do it.
Monday - run & cross
Tuesday - run
Wednesday - cross
Thursday - run & cross
Friday - rest
Saturday - long run & maybe cross
Sunday - cross

Even the long runs aren't that long so they could be doable along with a swim and or bike.

I'll still keep looking though for something to improve speed.

ironannekidd - 2010-10-06 9:27 AM Speaking of wrong, it's story time again.

There is a kid who works here in another building that I've worked with before so we chat throughout the day. He sent me a message this morning and asked if he'd told me about his neighbors dogs. I told him that he had not. He told me he has elderly neighbors who leave their dogs out in the yard at night and they bark at everything and keep him up. He told me he got up last night and opened the gate and the one dog ran off. He asked me if he was evil.

I told him he wasn't evil, but he was pretty damn childish and inconsiderate. I asked him if he'd spoken with his neighbors about the barking. He said they wouldn't have done anything. I said how do you know they won't do anything. Again I asked if he had spoken to the neighbors. He said he hadn't, but it was the best thing for the neighborhood for this dog to be gone. Then he told me he was a dog lover.

I told him that wasn't his decision to make and asked if he was going to pay for vet bills of something happened to the dog.

I was pretty ticked off and I closed the chat window, and the entire chat program. I can't express in words how mad the whole conversation made me. I'd be devastated if one of my dogs was missing. If they're elderly they may not be able to go out and look for their dog. He never said how elderly they were. I'm just upset that 1) he let the dog loose and doesn't care that it's gone, and 2) He never took any steps up to that point to try and rectify the situation.

Grrrrrr!

I am getting in my car and driving up there to kick his butt! The cowardly little chit! To weenie to go and face the people and evil enough to cause harm to the dog and heart ache to the neighbors.

I am going to taze him, as well.

I'll hold him down while you smack him around!

I'm here and ready to help, but the two of you will be able to handle the little chit just fine.

I. am. just. appalled.

Most Definitely!  He was WRONG on so many levels!

I was just looking at possible tri's for next year. I thought about Black Bear again. It is $120 to register for the Oly, and if you want to upgrade to the technical t-shirt is is another $25. Am I wrong in thinking that those prices are pretty dang high?

That's what I'm thinking. If I really want to bike the course I can do it on my own next spring. I think I'll keep looking.

Its just brutal. Haha.

They had to split our class because we are so big...and there are ALWAYS problems with the first exam writing (they are on the computer)...so the second administration is ALWAYS delayed by 30-60min.
