pdbman - 2010-10-06 11:01 AM I've been on a safety kick lately. There are three places I usually ride/run. One by work, one between work and home, and one by where I live. I found out last week that a woman was attacked on the trail by where I work and another on the trail between work and my house. Both are busy trails so it surprised me that someone would even attempt it plus one of the attacks took place about the same time that I would have been in the area on my way home. I definitely need to pay more attention to what is going on around me. Be safe out there ladies. I would hate to have something happen to any of you.

Thanks Paul - never hurts to be reminded...

Hello team!
I think I need to make a doctor's appointment, because I obviously passed out for several days because somehow I missed about 20 pages of posts!!!!  I tried to catch up by reading about every third or 4th post, but I'm sure I missed a ton.  Got a spin class in at lunch.  Starting to get in the swing of things.

Oh, and today's my wife's birthday, so I'm picking up dinner from this amazing Italian restaurant that's on the way home.  Then, we get to pig out while we watch our Phillies take their first step toward the World Series!

Just curious, does anyone have any races coming up?  Personally, I'm done for the year.

I'm done for the year as well.  Would love to do another race this year but now it's time to focus on building for next year.

I'm doing a 5km on Oct 30 and one on Dec 31, which isn't much and I almost didn't even mention it. I plan on doing my first half marathon in March, but that's next year.

holy cow i go off the grid for 24hrs and 20 pages appear in this thread - who can catch me up??

panic has set in because the injury curse of my beloved Red Sox has befallen me -  excruciating pain in the center of my heel has had me walkin' like a penguin today.

and who has a majic pill they can send me to make the pain go away - ibuprofen ain't cuttin' it!!!

LOL - glad i'm not the only one!!

as for races - the end of the year is lovingly easy, 10K next monday (i'm sure the heel thingy will go away unless it was a real curse from the Ghoulies!) then a turkey trot, and lastly a 5k Jingle Bell run... then the return to the site of my first 13.1 last year on Cape Cod 2/27/11.  Ya, i know what you're thinking... who goes to Cape Cod in February!?!?!? - only the crazy runners of Massachusetts that who!!!

Nothing much for me to wrap up the year. Thanksgiving day 5k. Maybe a Beat the New Year 5k. Then nothing until April when I'm planning for a tri and a marathon.

Got my first half IM middle of November, after that am going to take it easy and enjoy a few smaller races in the country, and maybe dip my toe into some adventure racing / mountain biking.

After this race, won't be racing serious for a while so selling my disc and racing wheels to pay for a kayak and decent mountain bike, thankfully my house is only 300m from the beach so the kayak should get some use

Are we playing that game where you need to answer with a question?  If so then mine is "What's a really boring sport?"

Imagine how the poor Ghoulies are feeling...

I'm sorry, will not show that sort of weakness about the enemy again until 1 November

Just updated the spreadsheet and liking the look of the percentages so far, a bit behind on where we should be for this stage of the month, but we're ahead of the baddies and will come back strong as the month goes on.

Read through the ghoulies post, they realise they need to be ahead of us by "5pm" as that's when we start posting.  They also think they have stamina and can outlast us.

Hmmm...  I don't know if I'm going to do any more races this year...  and that's a little weird.  I've done a du that last few years in October but I think we're going to be gone that weekend.  I also usually do a 5k Turkey Trot but it's my daughter's BD this year.  And we were supposed to have Thanksgiving at our house so we could combine it with my daughter's party.  Actually, now that my inlaws have decided they'd rather do it on Saturday instead and I don't have to cook for them, maybe I will do it!
