ironannekidd - 2010-12-08 7:55 AM And for 10,000

Charlie Brown: (shouting in desperation) Isn't there anyone out there who can tell me what Christmas is all about?
Linus Van Pelt: Sure, Charlie Brown, I can tell you. Lights, please.
[a spotlight shines on Linus]
Linus Van Pelt: "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the lord shone round about them, and they were so afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not, for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you this day is born in the City of Bethlehem, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; you shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, good will toward men'". That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie brown.

Very nice!  I like this

and congrats on 10,000

That looks awesome! I wanna go, too!

When you come visit, we can go.

Of course I am terrified of heights. I figure it is time to get over that. At least while I would be all tied in and stuff.

I'll tell you what I tell my son. It's ok to be afraid of things, sometimes it keeps you safe. If you're always afraid to try new things though, you're going to miss the good stuff.

True enough. Except, I am REAL sure I am not going to rock climb. My whole family LOVES it. Heck, the boy teaches it. NOPE. NO. NYET. There is a level of terror I am NOT up for.

(I did try it once, though so I KNOW I hate it. Hate, I say).

Rock climbing is something I want to do, but I need to work on the upper body strength first. I have a friend who is willing to take me. I'd like to use the climbinb wall at the college sometime, but I need to take a safety class first.

I LOVE climbing walls. They don't involve getting too high off the ground. Come visit. The son will take you climbing. He is great and takes folks of all abilities. I'll fix drinks after.

Yeah, climbing walls are great fun!  I would probably never truly rock climb though because I would always be thinking about the possibility of putting my hand on some creepy crawly.  In which case I  would jerk and yell and fall.  Frown

ceilidh - 2010-12-08 6:39 AM I am hung up on what to get the nephew for Christmas. He is odd. He plays video games and plays trumpet in the school band. As far as I can tell, that is all he is interested in. He does not even have a drivers license to go anywhere on his own.
I figured a book on 1000 places to see before you die would be good. The DH's idea was the Kama Sutra and some condoms.

Maybe a poster from one of the video games that he likes?

Not a bad idea, I just need to figure out which game he likes. I'll have to send my mom in (She lives near them in Fla).

With all you work out, how can you possibly need a calorie reduction plan?

I figured it out. I got him a book on getting fit to be a Fire fighter. It is what he wants to do (His dad is one). It will gather dust, I am sure. It has a C25K program in it. I'll send him links to the podcast in the card.

Things never go as I have planned. I got a call from the school about an hour ago. My daughter fell at recess and split her head open. I raced to the school to get her.

She split her head open on the side, near the back. If I took her to Ready Care or the ER, they'd put a stitch or 2 in it. I'm not going to take her though. The bleeding is stopped, and she's pretty emotional already. If it were somewhere else I'd get her stitches. She can live with a scar on her head. I'll take care of it here. She'll be fine.

We're sitting in our recliner now watching a Disney Movie. There may be a nap involved for me very soon.

Of course I do - I stopped in briefly and never said hi and then disappeared.  Pretty peeved right now because they have us working overtime because we are so "BUSY" LOL

I am so busy that I just finished a job up in 5 hours that they budgeted 40 for.

Why don't you let me decide if I am busy enough to need to work overtime during the holidays people!!!

So I am here and there but nowhere for long.

Nekkid - hope your daughter heals up quick!  Enjoy your nap!

That's some pretty bad budgeting. Since you finished early does that mean you get 4+ days off  now?

Only if the world operated on our logic Nekkid!

Unfortunately tomorrow I will spend 4 hours doing another job that will supposedly take me 40 hours again.  So that leaves 8 days off.  See you after Christmas!!!!

Friday I feel a bug coming on - our local ski area is having $8 lift tickets for opening day and I feel I deserve it since I am such a stellar employee!!!!

If the office is so busy you certainly don't want to get everyone sick. Way to go, taking one for the team and staying out of the office.
